Hi i am just new to this site, got my first corn snake at Christmas lovely baby amel named sheldon. he shed last night but there was quite a bit left on his tail, I helped remove this with wet cotton bud to ease it off, but I have noticed he has a tiny pink/red bit at the very tip of his tail, any advice as I think I have accidentally hurt him :(

Hey...I'm new to corns too. You say it's an amel. Are you sure it's not just his natural pink coloration of the tail?

yeah defo not just natural colour, he was holding it up too, will check it again later when he's out for his feed. (I say he but not sure of sex) it wasn't bleeding or anything though, just a bit more red than usual.

If you notice incomplete sheds again, instead of actively trying to remove it, a session in a 'snake-o-bath' works well. Pop a wet flannel in your feeding container and any retained skin comes off easily

thanks will try this next time, still very new to having a pet snake so very much appreciate any advice given :)

I had the same problem with mine and the bath in a tub option worked really well. It all came off perfectly and now she's about to go into her second shed since we've had her.

I just don't like the thought that I've hurt him :( . This is his second shed since I got him, first shed went lot better than this one. He's still very small was only born in October 2012. Fantastic pet to have though and my daughters love him :)
