Hey guys, im a college dude, and im movin out this summer so ill finally b able to get my own pet. Id like to know what suggestions and advice anyone can offer before I dive into the world of corns :)

Don't dive in! Haha...do your research first. I followed this site and read Kathy Love's book for 6 weeks before buying my corn and everything has gone pretty smooth for me. So work your way in slowly...it'll be worth it in the long run.

I agree...definitely do your research first...check out the FAQ area of the forum..as it has a lot of info for the first timer..also check out kathy Love's book on corn snakes..it sells at a fairly affordable price..There is so much to learn that it's great to know things before you go and buy your snake :0)

Hi, and congrats on having the wisdom to do your research before buying! Ditto on the recommendations for Kathy Love's book. I also recommend "Cornsnakes in Captivity" by Don Soderberg. This forum is an excellent resource. I

'm a newcomer to corns too, having gotten my first Feb. 1. I've had a lot of animals over the years - still have quite a few, in fact - and the snakes are by far the easiest to care for. They're clean, quiet, gentle and beautiful. Their needs are easy to meet. Good luck in the hobby, and welcome.

Welcome and let me commend you on your wisdom to do the research before adding a new creature to your world. I also recommend getting Kathy's book and reading it before purchasing a snake. It's the book that started it all for my family. I picked it up for my daughter and told her to read it and get me a list of the things she would need for a new one, which she did. Did the same thing for the Bearded dragon she really wanted and decided that a BD would be too much work with college. She's such a smart kid :)

I picked my copy up at the local petstore, if not Kathy sells it on her website. It's worth the price and double :)

*nods* read books, check out faq's, talk to people who already own snakes. (the people around here are wonderful sources of info) The more prepared you are when you get your new baby, the smoother and more enjoyable your experience will be.

I will also recomed Kathy Loves book you can order it on her website corn-utopia.com and you will learn a lot from it and if u have any question u can ask them here someone is always willing to help.
Welcome to the forum
