Hey Guys!! So I just got my first snake, but I need help telling what variation of corn snake it is. The guy at the pet store who sold it to me as a candy cane but I know how many varieties there are out there so I came to all of you to hear what some of you think she might be. Thank you for all of your help and I look forward to communicating with many of you in the future!

Jake

Ok, first off, I love your username! I friggin love skrillex's music! (if that's what it's a reference to)

Second, that seems to be a normal amelanastic corn snake, not a candy cane which is a specially bred form of amelanism. Candycane hatchlings have more red to their saddles and tons of white showing.

That is what my names referring to!! I'm glad to see that somebody can appreciate his music as much as I do!! And thank you for your response also, I guess it goes to show how much local pet stores know

Dubstep Shumbstep... Its a knock off genre of some music that's actually takes talent ;)

(Don't mind me... I'm just old and jaded when it comes to electronic music!)

VERY pretty snake though - even if you ARE a dubstep fan....

Interesting... I'd like to know why exactly you think that? Making dubstep takes just as much musical knowledge as making any other type of music. Rock, pop, house, trance, metal, whatever. It all takes a certain amount of knowledge and skill to produce. Now, it's a matter of opinion as to whether or not the outcome sounds good but the fact remains that it does take talent to produce it.

I am aware of dubsteps roots, it used to be something very different and experimental. But things change, and if you personally don't find the results appealing then that's fine, but it's not fair to say it doesn't take talent to make it.

Didn't realize you would take a joke so personally or be so offended by it.

I do respect the fact that you dont like dubstep, not everybody does, and to be fair a lot of dubstep is pretty bad. But certain artists are really good within the dubstep genre, and coming from somebody who attended the Berklee School of Music for a summer (not for anything electronic music related), and from somebody who has tried making dubstep, I can tell you that it is extremely difficult to do. I couldnt do it for the life of me and I consider myself pretty talented when it comes to music. I think it takes as much skill to make dubstep as it does to make trance, or house or whatever other electronic music genres you may think of. That being said, it's not my favorite genre, I much prefer Benny Benassi or Depeche Mode over any dubstep (I realize those are two totally different genres, as that was the point). But I do respect that you dont like dubstep, I take no personal offense to that, and I respect you no less for disliking it.

On a lighter note, thank you for appreciating my new snake, i think shes a real sweetie :p

GAH!

I was JOKING! No - I don't like dubstep - but I made it clear that I was just teasing you guys, that I am old and set in my electronic music ways and was MESSING WITH YOU.

Sheesh. Back to the snakes.

I never took it in a bad way, I could tell by the smilies and the fact that you even mentioned the fact that you were stuck in your ways that you were just messing with me. I guess I was just trying to be informative. Anyways... how bout them snakes ;)

I have an anery - and I love the grey / black scale animals... But seriously - the butters and the amels (especially the reverse Okatees) are just GORGEOUS. I'm jealous. I'm pretty much only 'allowed' one, so I have filled my grey scale animal desire, but secretly if I could I would fill tanks with the colored guys :)

The snake in your avatar looks beautiful! I would get a second one if I could, but sadly as a college student I dont really have the room or time for more than one. I just bought her because I thought she looked cooler than the other ones my local pet store was offering, and as it turned out shes been a real sweetheart and hasnt given me any problems (fingers-crossed)

Beautiful little amel!

Welcome to the forums :)

I have to say that Amelanistic morphs are simply stunning- if I had to have only 1 corn, I'd probably pic some Amel. A fire or a sunglow, probably.

Why thank you!! Is mine just a 'normal' amel? (Im new to all this so i don't know what all the morphs within the morphs are quite yet)

Well thank you for your help!! I'm sure I'll be getting more snakes soon and hopefully will get the morphs I am looking for lol

Well yesterday on the forum I found an extreme reverse okeetee that I pretty much fell in love with. But I really like the a lot of the ghosts as well as the disappearing stripes as well
