New pickups at Columbia...

MegF.

That's for sale???
Picked up a couple of snakes at Columbia Repticon. One is a Northern watersnake I got from a friend of mine for educational talks I do and the other was a buy I wasn't intending on but couldn't pass up...he was too cool looking. He can also be part of my educational talks as well.
Waterloo the watersnake:

And Rusty the cottonmouth...not the best pictures...they were taken in the container before I put him in his new digs and he went immediately into his hide when I put him in....so until he starts coming out, no decent shots!

He is....only reason why I picked him up is because I haven't seen one that looks like him ever. There is a bit of pattern underneath but instead of being melanistic, he's golden brownish...somethin'...Seems pretty laid back too...hopefully he'll take f/t...they said they only feed live....if he won't do the f/t...maybe he'll take fresh killed or stunned. He's in good weight so he can go a bit.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought for sure you'd gotten one of those really nice red diamondback rattlesnakes at the show. ;)

That cottonmouth sure is an interesting little guy--I'd be interested in seeing a progression thread on him to see if he keeps that golden tone.

I've seen cottonmouths eat carrion-level dead fish. I never knew they even could be hard to feed. I'm sure you'll get it going, if I'm wrong! That is an interesting one, and I hope you can catch a fresh shed pic soon. It looks more than a little different. Not that there are markets for cottonmouth cultivars, but neat none the less!

Neither of them ate last night but it's not really surprising...a bit stressed out I imagine. I'll try again in a week or so. I saw the rubers there and some were really nice! I do want one bad but didn't get one. We'll see how this one comes out...he's fairly large...over 2 1/2 ft or so...didn't weigh him.
