NEW SNAKE! (First BP)

Hey all!

I had a FANTASTIC time at the CRBE in Toronto today! Came home with this little gem (snake #2, first ball):

Male pinstripe ball python hatchling, 116 grams, 3+ meals on f/t rats. Very calm, despite being in blue.

I hope Sydney doesn't get jealous ;)

But I couldn't belieeeve the amount of snakes there. Ball pythons were easily the most popular, followed by boas, which I didn't expect. Not as many corns as I'd hoped to see, but definitely a good number. The babies are SO TINY. And very reasonably priced!
Not a shabby breeder in the house (at least that I saw).

:)

Congrats NH93! I couldn't believe the amount of pythons at the CRBE today. I took my kids for the experience. Of course we ended up leaving with a coral snow my son named "cupcake"! ;) Enjoy.

Very awesome indeed! You'll have to post photos Motley Sunglow :)

And thanks ccky ;) I know you're just saying that because Sydney's a corn snake hehe

what's the little guys name???

he's quite handsome, I want a boa or python but their illegal in my city.. so Collubrids it is!
which I don't mind one bit.. theirs only like what 500 types that I can keep right?
and their all soo different! ;)

bps start out pretty chubby even as babies, and they get much larger than the collubrids that were used too! maybe that's why he seems so large to you Lorie..;) ^^^^

That is a cutie. If you haven't already check out Autumn's care guide down in Nanci's forum, I would. Great info on Ball Pythons in there. A must read for everyone new to keeping Balls.

Thank you everyone!! :D
I have just settled one a name today, actually. His name shall be Beau ("handsome" in French, also the city of Bo in Sierra Leone, Africa - but I prefer the French spelling).
I have definitely checked out the ball python care sheet on this forum ;) it was really helpful.

I didn't know pythons and boas were ILLEGAL in Barrie, ON! That sounds crazy to me (and upon further investigation via articles I just found on Google, it is an old law from the early 1990's).
I know that some places in Canada require you to have licenses, depending on the species of snake (in Kitchener, it's any snake larger than 2 meters, or 6 ft.), apart from venomous snakes.
That makes me sad :( but at least not all species are banned in Barrie!

yeah.. I noticed that too when I was first researching what I could have, and it just seems like they have neglected to "update" their laws on exotics.. it silly cause you can still purchase large and I mean LARGE lizards like monitors that are for sale at my local shop, where I got both my snakes.. all the snakes are colubrids but they get in some pretty awesome ones aswell as the lizards..

Thank you :)
I got him from Andrew at CBPythons! I think they were linked with Mike's Racks (or at least right beside them).
I can already tell how different he is from Sydney - it's crazy the difference in personalities!

oh yeah.. I think all snakes have their own little personalitys, it's neat how different they can be from one another!

I forgot to add earlier.. I love the name you ended up picking!
my little Arbers name is French too! ;)
