I just brought home my first baby snake yesterday. I've been learning about snakes for awhile so I believe I've got the important stuff down. I got it from a pet store with little info. I had a hard time finding a corn. It looks like a snow. I know it had eaten the day before and it was not sexed.

Welcome! :wavey: What a sweet snake. Do you have a name yet!

Hope you stick around here. If you need anything just ask :)

Hi and welcome to you and your new noodley friend! :wavey: To resize your photo to forum-friendly dimensions, add a lowercase l (for large) or h (for huge) just before the file extension. :) It keeps the page from getting stretched too wide, especially on PC.

Thank you. I've been lurking here for a little bit. I had used h on my first attempt but I got frustrated when I kept messing up the link. LOL. My son wants to call it Snow cone.

Hello and welcome, Jenny! I'm also relatively new to owning snakes but I'm loving every moment of it. Like the others have said, if you've got any questions/need any advice, please don't hesitate to drop me a PM. Though I probably don't know as much as these guys!

Hope to see more pictures of your snake as it grows! :)

Welcome to you and little Snow Cone. I love these light colored babies! You can see all their little inner workings until their white comes in. :)

Welcome! Cute little snake! I was wondering though, how you got such a huge pic posted here? The max size is 1056 x 1056 and yours is 3,264 x 1,836!? Oh well, at least we can see everything! Hope you enjoy looking around!

Thanks for the welcoming. I'm in love with this little baby already. I keep checking on it. I think that's because it's so little. I picked up some pinkies today. I read twice a week feedings are best with babies. But some people say once a week or every two weeks. What's the popular opinion? I'll make sure to resize before I post a pic again.

For baby corn snakes, personally I think once every 5 - 6 days is fine. You don't want to 'over stuff' a little one so it regurgitates. When your snake 'throws up' you're creating a whole new problem! And a snake will be just fine at this feeding rate. Do you have a scale that weighs in grams? Snake weight is grams, not ounces. This way you'll be able to tell what and how much you should be feeding your snake.

I do have a scale. I haven't weighed it yet. It still had a lump in its belly from eating so I didn't want to handle it yet. I'll get a weight tomorrow. It's just so relaxed and doesn't mind being touched.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!

Personally, I feed my hatchlings every 4-5 days until they are big enough to eat fuzzier (at which time I change feelings to every 5-7 days).

Everyone pretty much goes by their own schedule, but that's mine.

Best Wishes!

In my opinion, once every 5-6 days for hatchlings is better than twice weekly for the simple reason that every 3-4 days would result in a small snake being in an almost constant state of digestion. It takes anywhere from 48-72 hours for a snake to digest. It would just make sense to have that occur once a week as opposed to more often.

Just sayin'. :crazy02:

She's doing great, eating well since I found the small pinkies. She's up to 8g from 5g. I haven't had her sexed yet. We just keep calling her a girl. She did make an escape from the first enclosure but was found under my son's bed an hour and a half later. We have cats and dogs so that was scarey. We went shopping right away and she has a nice new viv with a sliding top screen that locks lol.

That's a great weight gain at that stage. Sounds like she is on her way.

Glad you found her so quickly. That was scary!

Thanks. She ate her last meal backwards but she worked it out.

My Cleo ate all her's backwards too until the taisl got too big and long for her to do it.

Your little one is so precious!
