No Job No Money No Corns

MikeSaw23

Never Enough!
Hey everyone well I really want some new corns to make my collection larger.
There is a problme though corns in NJ are expensive and I am 13 which means no JOB and that mean no MONEY.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do at 13 to make some good money???

Mow lawns, paper route, babysit (depending on experience and ability of course), walking dogs....about all I can think of off the top of my head. I keep telling my almost 13 & 14 year olds to get out and start making their own money. Their wants are getting expensive now days. :)

Maybe you could mow some lawns or something. Or rake leaves, or collect aluminum cans. Or find an older single lady and clean up around her house, weed gardens, take out the trash or do other odd jobs. There are plenty of things you can do to make money. Just be creative. Ask your parents for suggestions as well.

Sounds like good advice all round. I use to mow yards, and rake leaves as well as hit mom and dad up to wash their car, do an oil change, tune up. These days depending on where you live suburbs, or country it may not be safe for a 13 yr old to walk around alone but if you got a buddy willing to help it could be fun and you'd get more cans. Bottles might be a good idea since your in a northern state i know the return on bottles is like 10cents a piece in some northern states.

Good luck and remember the more responsibility you show your folks as far as taking care of your pets usually equals more pets or funds for them at Christmas, and birthdays.

Work as a caddy. They make a crapload of money! And the summer golf season is just starting!

:bang: i am 13 too....I am mowwing lawns its prtty goodmoney.Iget more busy in the summer scince it gets so hot down here......... :flames:

I started multiple paper-routes at nine years old, and kept it going until I was old enough for other work. My parents couldn't afford the lavish lifestyle that I yearned to become accustomed to, so I had to do it myself. Even my friends of wealthy parentage envied my financial independence. I had Colecovision and all the accessories, ferrets, gerbils (before their cannibalism prompted my hatred for all rodents), and dropped a few zillion quarters into classic arcade cabinets. "Mom, can I have a new bike?" "No." No problem-- I bought it myself. When I didn't get what I wanted for X-mas, I'd just buy it myself. Good times, good times. ;)

Hey Roy, I guess I'm showing my youth here, but what the heck is "Colecovision" sounds like an old video game system, or maybe a computer? I'm at work, so can't google it. Sounds fun, whatver it was.

I did chores around the house and got a weekly allowance that was increased yearly as I got older. By the time I was 17 I had enough allowance saved up to open a checking account.

If your neighborhood is the right size, offer car washings to your neighbors.

Or offer a pet-sitting service. I have a pet-sitter come in once a day when I'm on vacation to feed, water, and scoop litter pans. She also waters plants, collects mail and leaves it on the counter, gathers newspapers - stuff to make it less obvious that we aren't home.

Sell the service to dog-owners by pointing out how they avoid exposing their dog to 'kennel cough.'

Our sitter charges per visit. So, if we need her to stop by twice a day, we pay for the second visit (at a slightly reduced rate).

Good luck! :santa:

My first gaming console was a Colecovision. It didn't have nearly as many games as Atari but it sure was fun, that is until my older sister "borrowed" it for a college party. It never worked again after that.

My little brother started a mowing service at 12 with 3 customers. He did a good job and soon he had more than he could handle. At 16 he used my dads old beater truck, bought better equipment and it just grew from there. By the time he left for college he had purchased his own truck with a nice system in it, had a snowmobile and other toys plus 16gs in the bank. Not bad for mowing a few lawns during the summer. Oh, he took on an "apprentice" the summer before he graduated highschool who flipped him some cash for his equipment and took over his clients. That kid didn't do too
bad either. Good luck!

Still Looking For A Job Heres One To End Your Search

JOBS FOR A 13 YEAROLD

if you want to make a lot of money do what i did. Find the most expensive private golf course in your area, and caddie for the members. If you are a decent size kid like i was at 13, you can do 2 sessions saturday that means walk the course twice, and again on sunday. Thats 4 trips out! when i carried 1 bag i usually made 25-45 dollars for 4-5 hours work, which isn't bad when you figure in a weekend you can make upwards of 100-200 dollars that isn't taxed. ALso during tourneys if the course holds them, people usually tip out better during these times.

THen you can do all that other local grass mowing, lemonade standing, and can collecting during the week, or if you made your quota relax 5 out of 7 days a week.

I am one of the mom's that can't afford $20+a week allowance for each of my kids. And they also are wanting more pets/pet stuff. The youngest is 9 and the twins are 11. Paper routes here are done in trucks by adults and you have to be 12 to babysit, so they had to find their own niche.
We have a pet store across the road and they started hangin out there, then helping out so they could play with the critters and now they all have after school jobs there helping feed and clean. They don't get paid much, but it is fun for them and best of all, the manager gives them a lot of freebies and a discount on their basic supplies. (Too bad he doesn't carry FT:) )

When I was 13 I started busing tables at a local coffee shop. They love hiring young kids because its all under the table and you don't have to give them a specific wage or benefits. I only made $4.00 an hour, but tons of people left tips and they had to be split between the waitresses and the bus boys (girl in my case). I made $50 a day in tips alone on weekends.

There are a lot of programs at schools where you can ask your school councilor to set you up with something. My sister did that when she was 15. It has to do with some new program to keep kids out of trouble after school. They usually set you up with activities, but if you ask, and say your family doesn't have much $$, they can check about getting you a small job. I did that in highschool, but I was old enough for a work permit at the time (which I think is 14).

Here is a deal for you Mike...

Hey Mike,
If you can do some neighborhood chores for a lack of a better term and you can save $50 for shipping cost; we will send you one of our to-be babies. They are due the end of June/beginning of July.
