Just an update. I bred her to a kastanie bloodred male from John Finsterwald this year and 4 babies hatched in the clutch. And we definitely have kastanies! Two of them are brighter than the other two, but I know there is a lot of variability with the kastanie gene. Or maybe she was het?? Redcoat? Thoughts?

Wow! Those first two are stunning! As far as the other two, not sure. A couple shed would help indicate if there is RF in there.

Nice babies but sorry about the kinks. Sometimes these test breedings bring on more questions than answers.

I've seen variation like that in an Okeetee clutch. They all evened out by one year. The bright orange/lack of orange didn't mean anything.
