Obama support goes down by 60 000 000.

Somebody call the wambulance! Non-issue. If the Brits want to get their panties in a wad over this, then let them.

I'm quite shocked at the lack of foreign policy understanding portrayed by some of you.
Short memories or couldn't care less?
I don't remember any other European country allowing the US to launch an act of war on Lybia or allowing them to land again afterwards.
Why stick our necks out to support you when you see it as panties in a wad.

Mike some in this country are simply blinded by the Barrackstar! :shrugs: Besides it was probably just his teleprompter operator playing a joke on him. :grin01:

All anyone has to do is visit both countries and tell them your an American. You will find out real quick which one is friendly to America(I have done it personally). Let's just say morning tea in Chipping Norton beats wine in Paris everyday of the week for me!

It's fine if you like to trivialize everyone else's opinions, or just cast everyone off who voted for Obama as "Barrackstars". But you don't see any threads on this site that are Pro-Bama. Which is strange for the popularity of such a "rock star" to not be brought up in one thread, especially for all of the ones on here that have some negative connotation to them.

I just don't hang on every word like some people, so to me, I personally could care less if this hypothetical America is best friends with this hypothetical UK. Afterall, who is "our" best ally in the first place. Matter of fact, who are "we"? Clearly we all have our own thoughts and opinions, and even though WE the people elected our President, it's almost a crime to speak positively about him. It's also not like you don't have the freedom to go out on your front porch and declare that Ireland is your favorite "ally", so how does it really affect anyone that these statements were made? Does it threaten national security? I just see no real harm to anyone that this was said.

I think most or some of you are missing the point..... Best friends isn't the issue, it's about a special relationship.... An Ally that will go to war, watch your back and die if needs be..... Considering the amount of times the UK has put it's national security on the line to allow the US free reign...
An American once told me that his countries biggest aircraft carrier with nuclear capability was USS UK....

After Julian Assange, I thought your prez would of played it down a bit and tried to tow the line some what,,,,
Seems he's too crass for humility.....

Incorrect I never said everyone I clearly stated 'some'. A little strawmanish.

No offense to Rich, this is a popular site, but I doubt the lack of multiple WOOOOT BARRACK OBAMA threads here is an exact measure of BO's faultlessness in the eyes of 'some' people.

This seems a bit excusal. If making the statement really means nothing then why would he take the opportunity to publicly make it? I have little doubt that he indeed thought it was pertinent. He just simply underestimated the negative affect in his haste to appease Mr Sarkozy.

What world have you been living in? The man received a Nobel Prize. If that's not speaking positively about him what is? The media put him on such a pedestal, speaking positively about him, that it gave rise to satirical videos like this. http://sendables.jibjab.com/originals/hes_barack_obama It's almost a crime to speak positively about him, PLEASE!

Nobody said he didn't have the right to do it, but my shouting from my front porch in noway equates to the affect of the POTUS making an official statement broadcast to the world. Could having to rely on France instead of the UK have an affect national security, absolutely. Will it's affect be quantifiable who knows.

But like it or not, this site is composed of an unbiased cross section of people who are not here based on political preferences. So yes, there IS some relevance, apparently, to that observation.

As for Obama's statement, please bear in mind that he does not speak for the majority of the people in this nation.

Actually that partially explains the point I was trying to make better than I did. Even though this is a popular site and has a good cross section of people they are not here based on politics. The lack of pro-Obama threads is probably better explained by this simply not being a political site more than those that find BO faultless being non-existent. I tongue in cheeked the all caps WOOOOT BARRACK OBAMA as a title reference to a pro-Obama thread that ended up having near 700 posts.

For the record I enjoy the cross section of people here. It keeps conversation interesting.
