Odd mouth opening behaviour

I've been eyeing my corn because she's about to shed, most likely today as she went from dull to almost normal color and no more blue eyed phase, so I'm just waiting for her to shed her skin. Now, I handled her earlier and set her back in her tank, and she promptly went to drinking from her dish, then this odd behavior started.

She's drinking for about three seconds, then full on opening her mouth like she's striking, almost 180 degrees and then keeping it open for another three or four seconds, then doing it again, this continued for about a minute. I got a good look in her mouth, nice healthy pink, no signs of infection. Is she just trying to loosen her skin on her head? I'm unsure of what's causing this behavior. Any input would be appreciated- Izzy

I would bet that it's related to the shed. If it's something that she continues afterward, then maybe and minimally maybe, it could be something else.

Yep, that's exactly what she's doing. I bet if you keep a close watch over the next few hours you will get to see it happen! I've gotten to witness 2 of my snakes shed and it was well worth waiting up until 5 am the first time! lol

Oh I am sooo relieved, actually I'm sitting here watching her as I type, makes me wish I had a camcorder , lol. I'll take more pictures of my baby once she's done shedding.
