Old enough to know better
I live in a nice neighborhood, on a cul-de-sac, so there is little traffic outside our house. I was laying in bed watching "Intelligence" recorded from the other day, and it is a chase scene. Now, for the last half hour I have heard sirens in our neighborhood, very unusual, but not unheard of, and most of it I thought was the TV.
One of the bedroom windows was open to the backyard and I saw flashes of light. I thought it was weird, how could the TV throw light at that angle? Then all my cats race to the window, I hear footsteps outside and lights flashing in my yard. I turned off the TV, killed the bedside light, and crept to the window. All I could see was a man with a rifle from the waist down. It took me a second to realize he was a cop, and I VERY SOFTLY said "hi, can I help you?" He looked at me and said someone was seen jumping over my next door neighbor's fence (7 foot block wall) into our yard.
I went out the bedroom door that leads to the patio where his partner was and pointed over to the wall that hides our pool pumps on the far side of the yard, and the one that encloses the AC units. They checked behind them both, nothing. Behind our yard is the golf course maintenance shed, there were several cops there by the sight of the flashing lights over the wall, and when I went inside and looked out the front there were about 8 cop cars blocking our street and cul-de-sac.
My next door neighbor on the other side called me, he said he went out and talked with one cop who said it was a car who was trying to be pulled over about 15 minutes before but took off from the cops. They chased him into our cul-de-sac where he was cornered and so he ditched the car and went into our neighbor's back yard where they almost cornered him but then he jumped the fence into our yard. That was the last they saw of him.
I don't know the outcome, it will be in our little community's police log online tomorrow. Hope they got him!
