The'day was the day :)
The first.session is over. Total time of the session: 2 hours and a half.

Personally I think it rocks.
Len - the tattoo artist - started with the koi.
the sleeve will follow.

Next session will be for colouring the koi.
The sleeve will be a third session. I think.

Here are a few pictures.
My GF will shoot a few more this evening,
when it's time to clean the tat a bit.

Wow! That is really cool. I bet it will be beautiful after the coloring is done. Keep us posted. :)

Sweet, nice shading... Does it hurt? LOL (I have some too...getting another soon) don't you love that question?
Of course it hurts! it's a needle zapping into your flesh at a thousand miles an hour...for some more, for some less, actuallly the worst part about it for me is just sitting there and then my arm or leg starts to cramp from not moving it for so long...
someone told me this once:

QUESTION:
Do you know the difference between people that have tattoos and people that don't ?

ANSWER:
People that have tattooos don't really care if YOU have one or not. People that don't have tattoos do care if YOU have one( hence the constant, unsolicited OPINIONS about them).

some Ink sayings I like:

My body is my temple, why not decorate it!

It's all about the pain, the tat. is just a bonus!

Thanks for all the positive comments.
I hope my dad's gonna like it too.

Hurt? The usual pain of a tattoo :)
It was the first time that the tattooing took so much time.
But it was fun :)

My body is my temple, why not decorate it!

I really like this saying :)

I'm going to be starting on a back piece in Sept (finally!), so I'll get to find out about the length of time I can sit still. LOL

Niiiice I didn't realize it was gonna be so big, I'm also impressed with all of that being done in 2.5 hours. My little girly tattoos only take like 45 minutes so I can't imagine all of that!

oh ok...I knew it was the elder futhark...just didn't know if it spelled something or not. I like it! I plan on getting the Aegishjalmur and another similar one....but for the life of me I cannot remember what it's called!

Some pictures after I washed it.
without the blood and the ointment and stuff.

Len is my hero :)

That looks great. Cant wait to see it with the color added. Do you have a plan for the other side of the back ?

awsome tattoo dude!
i have been saying for ages that i would love to get a tattoo done, but if i ever do get round to doing it i would do what you have done........go big and go to someone who will do a good job! otherwise, i just dont see the point!

It looks very good! I just finished my backpiece this past Monday. Can't wait until it's fully healed and I can wear jeans.

Gorgeous! I love it! I'm going in for my new one on Wednesday.

Question: Who designed it? Did you? Your artist?

Who designed it? Did you? Your artist?

The artist designed the tattoo to my guidelines.
I told him I wanted a tattoo of a koi going from my back
over my shoulder into a sleeve. He made a sketch.
My appointment was at 2 PM, up to 01:53 PM I didn't knew what it looked like.
It was exciting to see the sketch and it was love at first sight :)
And now it's on my back.
I'm so glad with my new tat.

Thanks for all the comments.

That's going to be nice when it gets the color in it.

I guess there's some variation in tattoo getters. I am not a wimp--I've helped a friend put 6 sutures in my own thumb (had injectable lidocaine that I injected myself into the wound--thank God), and I let the dentist drill out a cracked filling after the anesthetic had worn off because he'd made me wait so long (and I didn't want to wait anymore.) I might not be tougher than average, but I'm definitely not wimpier than average.

That said, I have plenty of tattoos and I don't enjoy the process at all. I LOVE having tattoos, but I don't even LIKE getting them, and I don't like the healing process, either. I don't think anything of the healing process if it's an easy heal. But if it's a difficult heal in places where the skin moves a lot, I don't enjoy that at all. For me it's not at all about the pain, and I never describe getting a tattoo as "fun."

Everyone experiences this process differently.
Personally, I like the tattooing itself. It's great to see/feel the tattoo growing on your body.
Your body does go through a lot during the tattooing.
Constant needles over your skin, your body reacting to this, ...
The healing process is a bit of a drag the first days,
but it's worth it when you see the result :)
