PANAMA PHOTOS!!!

Thats a hell of a lot of photos!

guess I've got something to do for the rest of my week off :D

:dancer:

I love the basilisk!

Sloths are so weird.

The bat cave is _so_ cool! You got great pics of them!!!

How can toads be so universal?

I like the red and blue bird. And the white heron/egret pic is awesome!

The fly thing with the big clear wings is cool.

I love the old fort. It's amazing how stuff like that survives.

Nice shots of the shoot! I hope the chopped up snake was fake!!

Haha...that is one ticked off baby Caiman (the one where you got him by the tail).

I'm not sure if you made his day or just plain ol' made him mad.

Woa Jenn what an experience! Panama is just drop dead gorgeous. How long did it take you to get used to it? Do you miss it?

What I want to know is when do you actually work? LOL!! It looks like you were having such a great time and all of the pics are just amazing.
Do you work with the same people in makeup and such at a lot of shoots or is it different people each time around?
What a fantastic experience - so glad you shared with us!

Yes, yes yes... I know, it's ALOT of photos. But considering I took over 1800 during my 5 weeks there, the fact that I got it down to a few hundred it quite a feet, don't you think?? :spinner: Hehehehe...

The bat cave was absolutely beautiful. As for shooting in it? Absolute hell and probably the worst two days I've ever had on set in my LIFE. The amonia from the guano was awful (not a big deal if you're just exploring for an hour, but a 12 hour work day...no good). And worse, it's SLIPPERY. Add in about 6 inches of soggy mud, and you're slidding all over the place. It had to be about 100 degrees in there, and it threatened to flood each time it rained!

That being said... it was amazing. It was so freaking cool getting to explore this cave that is generally closed off to the public. Even cooler when I was precalled one morning to start a makeup, and before everyone showed up, grabbed my flashlight and explored the cave a bit without the worklights on. Each time I entered a new chamber bats would wake up and rush by my head. That was the morning I found that cave spider too. I was only in there alone for maybe 5 minutes (I had to get back to work *pouts*) but that was certainly 5 of the most amazing minutes I've ever had!

As for the toad, any thoughts to an ID? These guys were pretty common, and got BIG!!

And yes, the snake was fake. What a nightmare that was! It was supposed to be a red tail boa. The silicon snake I made was painted beautifully like one. Then, the night before it's to be shot, I get told it's now an albino burm...and I didn't have any silicon paints out there. So I painted it with acrylic (hence why it looks so awful! LOL!) and each time it rained it rubbed the paint right off. *nightmare*

I adjusted after about a week... maybe less actually. I think I really like warmth and humidity. Hehehe. It's taking me longer to adjust to the conditions at home after getting back, then it did to get used to the conditions there!

It was a very different world there. We weren't staying anywhere near Panama city (which is a big, metropolitan city). We were litterally out in the middle of no where. And yes...I miss it. I miss it alot. The other makeup fx artist and I are allready talking about taking a trip back next year. That's how much we miss it.

I love the pictures you took, some were actually funny. Like the one that you were drunk in and made a funny face... The sloth was really cute..
A question... when you were in the bat cave... did you get stuck in bat crap?

Didn't really get stuck in it... it was raining SO much those days, everything was constantly wet and extremely slippery. So, while I didn't get "stuck" I did FALL in it alot. Oh, and I got peed on from bats as well. Hehehehe.

Those pictures were really amazing. I loved the shots of the leaf cutter ants. But looking at them made me a little homesick for Guatemala :) Looks like it was a great time!

My hubby and I adore your work, we look at your site from time to time to see what's new. Thanks for sharing your pics and your adventures with all of us!

Awwwwww. *blushes* Hehehe...I don't think I've updated my website in over a year. It's pathetic, really. After I switched to mac, I couldn't figure out how to update it anymore! (always had a hard time updating it in the first place). Making a new one though... slowly... hehehe

Awesome pictures Jenn! I loved the jungle shots, and the sloth pics were a big hit with the girls. I've not gotten to look through all of the albums, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the pictures!

Jenn

WOW awesome pictures! What kind of camera and lenses were you using? It really takes some skill to get those insect pictures too.

Nikon D50. The bug shots were all with the Nikon 18-55mm kit lense. Some things, such as the Caiman and such were shot with a 70-300mm lense. :)

Welcome back. It looks like it was an amazing trip! I can't decide on which of the photos were my favorites but I must admit those sloths look darn cute!
