Penny Arcade Appreciation Thread

10 years. That is exactly 1 decade. That is also the length that my favorite webcomic has been in operation. I am writing this thread in celebration.

(From Wikipedia)
Penny Arcade is among the most popular gaming webcomics currently online, and it hosts both a children's charity (Child's Play) and a gaming convention (PAX) each year. It debuted on November 18, 1998 as a regular feature on the video game web site loonygames. The authors launched their own site in late 1999, and new comic strips are usually posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

I started reading the comic about '02 or '03 I think, but I've not missed a single comic since. I re-read the archives now and then and I'm a very active member of the forums. So I'm a pretty big fan. :p

One of the most amazing things about the comic is how influential it has become. Gabe and Tycho (The pseudonyms of the comic's artist and writer) only allow advertisements on the site from games they enjoy themselves and their convention, PAX, has become a showcase of upcoming games and industry wares to rival E3. The Child's Play charity, which they started, now raises money for children's hospitals around the world that is calculated in the millions (Hit up the website www.childsplaycharity.org to see if your local Children's Hospital is one they work with. Just this year they added the Alberta Children's hospital here in Calgary!). The sheer popularity of Penny Arcade mean that Tycho and Gabe are just as important to any publisher's advertising scheme as gaming magazines and television shows.

But that wall of text isn't what this is about! On to the comics!
(Warning: Most of their comics include some pretty harsh language, so viewer discretion is advised)

If you're a fan, post some of your favorites!

I love PA, and I don't even game at all. I've never made it down to PAX, but a lot of my friends have.
We are all dorks.

I'm hoping to make it to PAX next year, but I doubt I'll be able to afford it. If being a dork is wrong then I don't wanna be right. :p

Nice recap. :D Been a fan over the years, donate Child's Play every year....

My favorite PA comic will always be... Gabe's Greater Internet &*#^@*@ Theory. Linked for naughty language.

For those who don't game online... you think the trolls are bad in the forums? Give them a gun and voicechat and watch the little monsters go! Hehe.

That one's a classic. And yeah, online gaming is a cesspool. I played UT2K3 for a while when it came out, but there was so much crap I stopped. I refuse to play my XBox 360 online for that reason and in WoW half the time I just turn of General chat.

It's like reading Yahoo! News comments. :p

It might actually be worse. :p

I generally just have the guys over and play over LAN with bots - not as creative or unpredictable as humans, but infinitely more tolerable.
