Pepper the Ghost

She is one gorgeous ghost! I really like them when they are that dark.

As for the missing scales, my motley boy shed off one of his scales on his head when he was a hatchling. To this day, he still has a white spot on his head where the scale came off. Before it came off, it looked kinda warped. But it wasn't on a spot I would think would be common with rubbing. So I am not sure what happened. Either way, it sounds like your girl had something similar happen. My motley is now 2 years old and it hasn't come back at all. Like Spartan66, I think it gives them character :)

By the way, Kathy found her records that I had her looking for. (She is awesome!)

Here is a picture of Pepper's dad:

He is registered at ACR as #2979. So I finally have both her parents' info! I am sending off registration for Pepper and Tabasco tomorrow. (Kathy found Tabasco's parents' info as well.)

Very cool ghost, Dave.

I had a corn or two with the scale "gaps" like this one has. They were definitely the result of minor damage in the case of my corns. They used to rub their heads on the screen top of my vivs. Like yours, the gaps looked more like scale separation or edge damage than missing scales. Now I use plastic tubs, and I've never seen the problem with tubbed corns. Strange that your ghost acquired the feature so young. At least it doesn't detract from her looks. It was less attractive on my normals.

Looking at the ACR info: her parents were half-siblings, sharing the same sire, from Kathy's "special Naples line".

Thanks Dean! I agree, it is hardly noticeable on her unless you look really close. All of my current hatchlings are tubbed, as will all future ones.

It is possible I just don't remember clearly... I did keep Tabasco and Pepper together in a screen lidded 10 gallon from the time I got them until just recently when I found this board. SO, maybe she didn't come that way and she did do it on the lid of their cage, but if so she did it pretty young as I seem to remember her "always" having it. Who can remember 3 years ago! At least I know better now!

Pepper shed, here is a shot of her fresh skin. She LOVES to sit on top of her Gladware.

Thanks guys! She is growing a lot now that I have her on the Munson plan. I'm sure she'll be ready for Tabasco next spring.

I can't believe how much she has grown since I began feeding her proper sized meals!

Pepper shed 12-21 and today she weighs 357g! Wow. 130g gain since 9-28. Here are a couple of shots from today:

Kinda cool tongue shot...

Yeah, she looks like chocolate saddles on a slate background. She has some neat frosting on some of her saddles and she is starting to get a lot of yellow on her head/neck regions.

Wow, it's crazy how dark her saddles have stayed. Her parents are very beautiful, and while she doesn't really quite look like them (yet, perhaps) she has a beauty all her own.

Thanks for keeping us updated!
