PETA porn (Article, not a naughty site)

PETA is a joke. I am all for animal rights in the fact I think miss treating them should get you in trouble and stuff but to go as far as kill show cats because they would be "better off" that way??? come on. ( dont take this the wrong way not sure how people are here hunting wise but this is in no way meant to offend anyone if it does i am sorry) I saw a shirt at the mall today and I would love to wear it around a bunch of PETA just to make them mad its no worse than how they do us. it says
PETA
People Eat Tasty Animals

"The non-profit organisation, whose controversial campaigns draw criticism from women's rights groups, said it hopes to raise awareness of veganism through a mix of pornography and graphic footage of animal suffering."

Now THERE'S a good idea (yup, still no sarcasm font we can use)

Halley, I completely agree.

My Blue Heeler escaped from her "babysitter" while I was away for the weekend and when we finally found her 6 days later she came straight to me. She was sick, dirty, starving, and terrified. She hasn't been the same since mentally, extremely clingy and fretful. She was NOT better off wild.

My Rat Terrier wouldn't have any idea what to do as a "free animal". She'd probably die in a week. I leave her with my Mom when I go into town and when I get back my Mom tells me she pined at the door the whole time I was gone. This is the dog that follows me everywhere, sleeps on my pillow, shares my footstool under my desk, sits on my lap when I watch TV and is spoiled rotten! She has a good life! The most horrible thing she's ever experienced are doggie sweaters (for when she goes outside in the winter, it's pretty cold for her!) and the Vet!

No, PETA, you are full of crap. Most pets are treated like part of the family, get food EVERYDAY, sleep in warm, comfortable houses and are LOVED. Something that strays do not get to experience.

I believe in Animal Rights. I believe that if you mistreat or abandon your pets that you should be punished. But happy pets living in happy homes... what could be better than that? Certainly not starving on the street.

If I was a snake, I would much rather live in captivity. Why? Because I get free, healthy, food that won't bite me, a warm (but not too warm) house, constant fresh water, clean soft bedding, a vet who always makes sure I am healthy, protection from predators, and plenty of time to get out and explore.

PETA's mindset: Snakes would rather be starving, cold, infested with mites, and preyed upon by hawks. Yeah, definitely.

When I was younger (12 or so) I was actually involved with PETA. I was sucked in by their PETA kids website and made to think that it's okay to blow up buildings just because people tested on animals in there.

I do believe in animal rights. I believe that animals should be treated humanely and that the people who don't should be prosecuted. I believe in animal testing but only for medical research where no other options are available. I believe in using hides and fur, but only if you really need it to survive. I am a vegetarian, but I would eat meat to save my life (and other's).

I would like to point out that there's a major difference between "Animal RIGHTS" and "Animal WELFARE". If making sure that animals are healthy, kept well, and have a fantastic quality of life, you support Animal Welfare groups. If you want to make sure that all animals have the same constitutional rights as humans, you're an Animal Rights advocate/activist.
And yes, I really did mean to type constitutional. Just ask PETA.

I believ if you harm or mistreat some one else's animal you should be held accountable.

Agreed. That's more on the animal welfare side of things than animal rights. The animal rights activists are dead set on making sure that all animals have the same rights that humans do, and some of them even equate service animal ownership to slavery.

I would like to have been a fly on the wall when conversation led to THIS idea. I simply can't imagine how this could have sounded like a good idea.

Eh I never really considered the difference in the word... But yeah, I in no way think that my pets deserve the right to vote. :p

I believe in Animal WELFARE though.

Agreed. On animal rights that has gotten way out of hand here in this country. The coulple of times I've tried to stomache animal cop shows I feel so sorry for PEOPLE getting raped, mugged, shot, aborted, and harassed. While tax money is being utterly wasted on these power hungry goons that bust in people's houses like miami vice bust them charge them and then lecture them like they are the perfect animal keepers who may not even own themselves.

Animal Cop shows make you mad because they're spending tax dollars to bust people who abuse and abandon their pets?

I'm sorry but someone who sets their cat's head on fire because they think it would be funny deserves to rot in jail as much as anyone else. I'd much rather my tax dollars go toward busting dog fighters, puppy mills, and other animal abusers than to some drug addict who would rather sit on welfare than get clean and get a job!

The only thing about the animal cop shows I can't stomach are the soulless monsters who abuse the animals that depend on them. To hell with money. If you get a pet you have the responsibility to that pet to give it the care it needs and if you can't do that, DON'T OWN PETS!

You don't have to support the PETA wackos to want animals to be treated properly by their owners.

I agree, Em. Plus, I think it's helpful to remember that animal torture is sometimes directly linked with psychopathic behavior in serial killers.

Lavender, you know... it's possible to not want to see animal abuse AND not want to see the human race suffer. You don't have to choose one or the other.

And here I thought it was pizza... At least that's what my husband seems to think. He actually tried to convince me a few minutes ago that pizza was its own food group. ;)

I have many animals. The are in good care. I'm also attached to my chocolate lab. But doesn't it make common sense that animals should be second behind people. Our gov't and enforcement have gotten so politically correct that proper law is gone by the waysided and kangaroo law is in it's place. Like my city, it is a class c felony to kill a dog. FELONY! Even your own dog! At the same time there is a list of peadophiles around here a mile long. I would feel a lot safer with my children out playing with a dog killer around than a peodophile a block away.
