Petsmart Suprise

After cruising the archives here and seeing many experiences and opinions, I thought I would gather a few more.

I ran to Petsmart to day to grab some pinkies after work. While being rung through I mentioned I was considering a starter kit for when my little guy is ready to upgrade. To my surprise the cashier told me that the starter snake kit isn't the best for corns as the overhead lighting and UV aren't the best option for them. I decided to test a theory and ask about cohabbing corns. Again I was pleasantly surprised. He told me that while they can be kept together it isn't recommended, he told me as a general rule most reptiles don't cohab well. He also told me it was store policy to keep all snakes separate. He then pointed out the resident snake guy that was the most experienced with reptiles.

While I try to support mom and pop stores, having another option is always nice.

I wish my local petsmart honored that rule. When I picked up my little Lavender from there she was in a tiny display with 2 other much tinier Corns. and She herself is only 20 grams.

That's awesome that your cashier was knowledgeable.

I haven't really talked snakes with the Petsmart people in my area, but their snakes always seem to be kept well (like not feeding them crickets or having more than one snake per enclosure).

$149 here for a normal at Petsmart, which is cheaper than Petland across the street, $179 for pencil sized babies.
