Petstore = Me Angry

omg my gosh her is gorgeous but so skinny the poor guy. I so hope you can build him up. Please when you get a chance check him for parasites who knows if he has really been eating that might be the problem.

With the superworms its the only thing our water dragon will eat right now. We get over 1000 from the reptile show and I know they do last. At times Charlie will flip to only wanting crickets then the worms sit for maybe a month and do fine. Occasionally I drop a potato or a slice of orange in for them but they do fine and hardly turn to beetles at all.

He MIGHT be eating just fine...

and regurging it all in a day or two. I sure hope not, though! I would give him really tiny, but frequent, meals for quite a while to hopefully avoid a regurge. And I would suggest putting some cuts in the food, too. If he can digest and not regurge a few meals, he should be on the way to recovery.

If he does regurge, you might want to syringe feed him a few doses of NutriBac right away, since he doesn't have a lot of time and fat reserves to waste. But hopefully that will not be necessary with small meals to start with.

Good luck!

Great to hear from all of you that say you don't have any issues with the supers popping, I might just start ordering them online then! It'll be cheaper anyway...

Kathy, I have nutribac here, so he will be getting that on each of his meals. I too was concerned that he may regurge. I know typically it's best to let a snake settle in for a week before feeding, but I did just this guy a fuzzie that was slit down the back and rolled in nutribac. He was MORE than happy to eat that.

Getting a fecal on him is a good idea.. he'll probably be going to the vet after I get a few more meal in him!! I'm thinking every 4 days to give him a hopper?

Sounds like you have everything under control. If he doesn't have any severe problems, he should do fine under your care.

Wow! You weren't kidding when you called him a skeleton! So glad to hear the son was able to work with you on him.

It'll be great to see how he does now under the care of someone who actually, well, cares!

I'm glad this poor boy has someone to nurse him back to tip top shape! I rescued a corn once in similar condition. He packed on weight just fine once he was actually being fed! Please keep us updated, I've got my fingers crossed he doesn't regurge!

Poor guy. :( Glad the son worked with you and hopefully he'll have a quick recovery.

And Tyrion sends Toothless positive eating vibes (and he says he'll eat whatever Toothless doesn't want; he's a walking garbage disposal). ;)

I know exactly how you felt when you saw this snake, it's how I got my little snow Ciqala and I did the same exact thing with her... fed her a couple days after getting here slit with it rolled in nutribac. Bless your heart AliCat for getting this corn out of there, I'll be keeping him/her in my prayers.

Those photos make me rage. I hope that store gets shut down and the owners never own animals again.

I hope the little one gets better fast.

Thanks everyone! I plan on taking him outside Tuesday to get some real pictures of him. Do you agree that he is possibly a Miami? He sure is big like one.

Also, since I finally have a "real" job, he gets to go to the vet after my next pay check!

Poor guy. I stay out of petshops as much as possible because of stuff like this. Glad he found a good home.

I'm glad you rescued him too. While I agree with don't support the store, how can you just let it stay there?

He is very pretty! I hope he makes a quick recovery.

How is he doing? Have you fed him??

He is doing great!! I fed him an adult mouse the day after I gave him the fuzzie. He pooped each time the next day after I fed him. No regurges! He still looks like a skeleton, but that's going to take time to fix. Still planning a vet trip though.
