Petstore = Me Angry

I used to have them! He did eat them for quite a while, but he stopped eating them when he stopped eating everything else (he is just now starting to eat again). Unfortunately, I am still finding dubias running around the house from the last time I had them. I would love to have them again, just worry about them getting out again.

Exactly why I haven't tried roaches for my bearded yet. If one escaped I'd have to move.

As for the store, the only way is to make a stand with your dollar. If nobody is buying, they can't stay open

I HAVE reported it, and so have others. The city has tried to shut them down numerous times, to no avail. They have this local following that has been with them for decades. I have called USDA, the local humane societies, animal rescues, I've even tried the BBB. Every one says that reptiles are not covered under their jurisdiction or something. This store is so bad that it even has the nickname "dead pets", because of how often they are cited for dead animals.
I want to start collecting videos and pictures and send them to the news, but that concerns me because when Lynn's house burned down and they talked about all the reptiles there, a lot of stations and viewers practically could have cared less, like reptiles are terrible and don't deserve to live. The other thing that bothers me is that the general public wouldn't see anything wrong with most of this stuff, like the cohabbing and bad sheds and mites, they think it's normal. Maybe the skinny snakes and dead animals would get their attention, but I'm not sure it would do anything. Like I said, the city has tried to have them shut down before.

And this is just the store front, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of animals in hidden rooms that are in worse condition.

So go beyond your community...they must be making money if they are continuing to sell...namely people like you doing business with them, buying their reptiles, that sort of thing. Educating people as to the health of these animals and what is normal is something you'll have to do. I find it hard to believe that animals starving to death...whether a reptile or not is okay with city officials. I'd start writing commentaries in the local paper...shame your officials into doing something...go to your senator and fight to get snakes and reptiles added to the local regs. Post them all over facebook, twitter and other social media, with pictures to back it up. Make it uncomfortable for these people to do business....DO NOT SPEND A DIME IN THIS STORE! Even if you have to drive an hour to get a week's worth of crickets, raise your own or hunt them in your yard for all I care.
