So I've added a new addition to our household, we named him Pickles...

He was in rough shape when we first got him but he is doing great now, especially since he's been fixed, not fun being sprayed by a 15lb bunny!

This is an AWFUL pic of me in my jammies and a scrunched up face but it shows how big he is.

His previous owners didn't want him anymore because he chewed stuff.....grrrrrr what the heck do you think a bunny is going to do?!?!

He was FULL if fleas, ear mites, he was also skinny and anemic, my vet get very upset when se seen what kind of shape he was in. We couldn't fix him until all the little things were cleared up...he's been gaining weight and all his critters (mites/fleas) are gone and this boy can't get enough attention, he thinks he's a dog, I generally leave him out all day and he always goes to his litter box and is so well behaved.

He usually does this most of the day, haha

lmao, he looks like a dog in a bunnies body. How hard is it to "house break" a rabbit any way? I was talking with a friend last night about that very subject and was just curios.
 
Depends on the bunny, generally females are easier but it's hard to train them until they are fixed, then they still might have the odd poop outside the litter box because they mark with their poop.

Bunnies need to be fixed, females can get very aggressive once hormones kick in and then they will end up with cancer...males will spray just like a male cat will and they're nearly impossible to fix until hormones are gone.

Of course there is the exception to every rule.
It's best to start in the cage, once they're trained in the cage you start slow outside the cage, small spaces, it takes a while before they can have a whole room or the house. He has free roacm of the house but generally he only stays in the living room, he likes the carpet and the comfort of couches, LOL

I want/need a new couch soooooo bad but I have another bunny Snickers who is BAD...he likes to pee on the couch and he chews and digs at it steady so Im trying to stop this behavior before buying any new furniture, if I can't get him to stop then I will have to get an ex-pen for him which I'll hate to do but I might not have a choice...

He's just amazing...

I've been trying to name something Pickles for a LONG time...finally I was able too.
Moose was supposed to be Pickles, then Monkey, then Skittles, then Snickers, haha finally Pickles fit.
 
LOL they both actually love dogs and cats, I don't know what they would think of a Chi though...I know they hate each other, that's for sure!

It sucks that you're allergic :( I don't have allergies but hubby does and it's no fun :(
 
What a cutie! I'm glad to see another house-rabbit knowledgable person around too...there are far too many people who are ignorant about their needs! A properly cared for rabbit is an amazing pet! :) :)

Yikes!! I only lasted about a week into my Mini Rex's "mating behaviors" before I hurried him off to the vet. I can't imagine that + 12 extra lbs! :duck:

:roflmao: He's bigger than the dog!! This is so funny, it reminds me of my cat and rabbit meeting.. the cat was the one running away from the rabbit!
 
Rabbit's are amazing pets...if you research first. That's what drives me crazy, so many people buy them, then get rid of them once hormones kick in.

LOL we learnt when he was going to spray, he would turn around and start digging..once he started that you knew to RUN, he can EASILY spray over 6 feet. He would spray and kick it with his feet to get maximum coverage, haha. I've since learnt that it's a flemish giant thing, thankfully it's now stopped.

He was also peeing then rubbing his chin in his pee then rubbing his chin on everything...that's why his chin was yellow in some of the pics..thankfully that has stopped as well, haha. He's amazing though and I'm so fortunate to have him here with us. I can't believe his previous owners let him get in such bad shape, I wrote them an email and they told me to give him back...haha funny people they are!
