Picture Sizing

Mr. Enigma!
Any thing that could be set up, to automatically size pics that are attached. I have opened up a couple of threads and seen these monstrous pics that were posted. I think it's the inserted images (linked) that seems to be the problem.

Is there a way to set up something to automatically size them to the 800x600 pixels max?

That will only work if they are attachments to a post and are uploaded to the server. And there ARE limits in place that way. With embedded graphics via URLs, that would probably be more of a function for the browser to implement, and not the site you are viewing those images through.

Probably the equivalent of cyber-stoning the person posting those huge pics would get faster results.

Slightly different Q

Thought it would be appropriate to post this here:

Can I downsize the display size of a picture I link to in a post, perhaps with BB code? I want certain pictures on my website server to be quite large when clicked on through my own website, but when I want to embed one in a post over here I don't want to mess up a thread or make people scroll to see the photo completely.

I'd like this too...even after resizing and resizing in PSP sometimes I still misjudge just how big the pics are :p I suppose I could just use the gallery function and keep 'em small that way...

You could upload the pics to photobucket. Sometimes I forget and post the full sized pic, but photobucket lets you post a thumbnail pic which links to the full sized pic. :shrugs:

I could also do that through Flickr but the idea is, that I want to host the pics on the space I have availble for my website, so I can also use it for my website and webgallery :)

But thanks for thinking with me :)

Well, I have toyed with the idea of putting a true photo gallery script here, much like I have with FaunaClassifieds. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/photopost/

But I'm not too sure how well it would work, as the photo gallery FORUM here is very heavily used, and the gallery script really isn't as user friendly for comments.

That being said, you CAN use that gallery on FaunaClassifieds, post your photos there, and link them here. Not sure if that would fix anyone's problems or not, but perhaps so...... :shrugs:
