The picture quality may not be the greatest, but I can only transfer pictures using my older camera. He's also a tough one to snap pictures of, he loves to move around. But I think you can get the just of it, and I like how the close up came out.

When I saw your thread earlier I thought that was nice to get a free snake. I sure didn't picture it looking that nice! I'd be thanking my brother.

I definitely hate you now...;-)
Thanks... I think, lol. I never thought I would find such a beauty, I really do read all of these posts from people in FLA, TEX, and CAL, and I get so jealous when they find such amazing snakes. But I really owe it to my brothers keen eyesight, I still don't get how he saw such a small snake, in tall grass, on a rainy day, at that distance, from his bedroom window. He looked out the window because he was thinking he might see something cool like a snake, and there it was. I'm not saying he's psychic, but both him and I, and my grandfather, have a unusual ability to pick up on things in nature. We look down sometimes, just out of intuition, and find 4 leaf clovers, snakes, or any rare type of wildlife. And my grandfather seems to sense where turtles are when he's doing field studies, even if they're covered in leaves, I can't explain it.

I know you said you don't agree with taking animals out of their natural surroundings. But MAN, If I were to find one like that I'd be SOOOOO tempted to hold on to it.

It's a beauty for sure. Thanks for posting the pics of him/her.

Wow!!! Very pretty! You're really lucky and as mentioned above, you DO owe your brother.

So ARE you gonna keep it? Wonder if it'll be difficult to switch to mice? Let us know.

CONGRATS and Kudos!

Ya, it is definitely a very beautiful snake. Especially in person. I'm Michael's brother, and I was the one who found it. Can't explain how, but I am so glad I did. Definitely the most interesting snake I have ever found, and I can't wait until he finally eats. If he does, than we woill probably keep him, so I hope all goes well!.

Very nice! The milks seem to be coming out a lot more this time of year. Any idea why? I wonder if its because of all the rain we've been getting up here :D. I'm keeping my eyes open for some though! Great find!

Cool, another NH native. Yes this is the time of year for the baby milk snakes to start appearing. And the rain has certainly helped, seeing babies feed on small prey, such as small slugs, frogs, and salamanders, and those are active during the rainy, cooler fall days.
I assume being from Southern NH, you know about the reptile expo saturday, but if you don't, the New England Reptile Expo is this saturday, october 4th. I would recommend going if you love reptiles, which I assume you do. But I would also be searching your area for some milk snakes as well, they love old barns, rocky hillsides and fields where mice are common.
I think babies are more active this time of year, but they are still hard to find. Check under boards, sheet metal, and rotting logs, you might even find some cool salamanders as well. But remember to turn all boards, logs, etc.. back over in the position you found them. As you don't want to not disturb the cover that it provides for the craetures you are looking for, even if there's nothing under it when you check. Just a suggestion, it keeps the habitats as they were, and does'nt do damage to creatures that use them for cover.

It's both of our snake, keeping Milk Snakes is not currently illegal in NH, but every is different, so we will keep him if we can get him to eat soon, otherwise I don't think we will.
We are twins and both keep snakes, although I own a majority, and I do almost all of the feeding, water dishes, cleaning, etc.. But he did find it, so that's why we will share. I will do the feeding, and he will share in caring for it by holding it, and loving it (the fun part).
