Piperita- 2013 Peppermint

Shiari

Blutterer
Piper here was a non-feeder 3 gram hatchling gifted to me by Carol. I was unable to get her brother to eat, unfortunately, but this tiny thing began chowing down and has been growing steadily, if slowly, in my care. She just shed this last week, so I thought I should introduce her. I wish I had more photos, but she takes off like a lightning bolt.

Wow- she's so pink!! Are you positive she's an ita? Oooh babies that little make me so nervous.

Exactly Nanci! XD Her brother had obvious hemipenes up the teeny tiny tail, but her tail is still completely 'clear'. I also chose the name Piperita because Menthe Piperita is the scientific name... for the peppermint.

*totally uncreative*

What did you feed her when she was only 3 grams? I'm scared of hatching out a little one like that and not knowing how to care for it! Although I know I'd get plenty of good advice here, it is always good to know in advance.

I'm amazed to learn that on some of these see-through morphs, you can visually sex them just by looking! Wow! How cool!

I love the name and the source of the name, even if you argue it was uncreative. :) She's really pretty.

You can buy day-old mice called reds. A 4 gram baby can eat a red. Smaller than that, you can feed pink heads, or halves, or headless- gradually working up as the snake grows.

Her first 2 meals were half-pinks (cut lengthwise) and after that she was on day-olds or very small pinks.

Just a little update as Piperita shed last night. I wasn't quite able to capture it with the camera, but her reds are really starting to come in.
