Pippety-pip-hurrah!

So would I, it's gorgeous!

I had a rather unusual hatchling today, posted in Blossom and Merlins pairing thread. If I said I was thinking of calling it Nelson if it's a boy, you can probably guess what it's missing ;)

I'll go take a look..............

Thanks! Pearl does seem to lay quite large eggs....with chunky sausage babies inside! I love the diffusion on this one, much beter than Pearl's, it looks almost white-sided.
No signs of pipping this morning, but the scent of green peppers is quite strong.

Just because I couldn't resist, more pictures!

Thanks Makis, Francka! I hadn't really looked at the head pattern, you're right, it is a 'broken skull'!

not such a good outcome for pippy #2. It started pipping normally, then spent 24 hours half out of the egg. I finally gave in and helped it out to find a major kink was what stopped it emerging. It will be euthanised and fed to Skeeter. A pretty little anery het diffused. Which shows Bonanza is a ghost het blood, not a ghostblood after all

Sorry about the second pippy...but from what I can see of the belly, it sure looks bloodred to me! Unless you spot some major belly checks on a hatchling, don't give up on Bonanza being het instead of homozygous!

The throat to about halfway down has checks, Susan. Bonanza was sold as het, but as he developed Lex thought she might have mislabelled him! So the first pippie is a total bonus. Still 11 eggs to hatch. (And thanks for your kind words)

Skeeter culled the kinked hatchling far more efficiently than I could have done, it was over in seconds. RIP pippy

Thanks, no signs of pipping from the remaining 11 eggs yet. If nothing else hatches then it will most likely be a keeper. No hemis appeared on popping, but I'll try again after it sheds

Hi Janine,
I'm always happy to hear about you and your (snakey) family!

Sorry for the lost pippie, but think of the wonderful one you got and the others still to come! I'm sure they will be great, big & healthy!

Hugs,
Tali

I'm suspecting the heat spike affected this clutch too, no signs of any more pips yet and i just slit a funky brown egg to find it was 'hardboiled', but with veins in it.
And just to add to the fun, #1 pippy has a small but definate kink. If it feeds and thrives I'll keep it as a pet, I wont risk giving away or selling a granite het hypo as a non-breeder. Popping as female so far, but I'll try again after it sheds.

I slit the funkiest looking eggs today, 5 DIE, 1 granite, 4 bloods, 1 set of twins. 6 eggs left. I'll give them a few more days.
