Plasma Stripe Half Sisters Hyacinth and Jola

Nanci

Alien Lover
These girls have the same mom, Aji. Hy is three years old, Jola is a yearling.

They did NOT cooperate- and this is the best I could get even with a professional snake wrangler helping me!

They are so pretty. I really prefer these to the near-white ones I have seen. Hyacinth is especially gorgeous. Do you think as Jola matures she'll lose some of those pinker tones and look more like Hyacinth?

Yes, I do. She was a very pink baby! Hyacinth went through a VERY blue phase, but has grayed a little. I love the smokey blue-purple color she is now, though.

So they have gone from pinkish to purplish and now Hyacinth seems to be heading towards greyish? Or at least grey-er?

It is so hard to know what to expect from these... there are so few examples out there that I've been able to find. Do you have any idea how many plasma stripes there are, total? Wasn't Hyacinth one of the first?

Well, like many snakes, they change color for much of their lives. Rich Hume bred the first few. Hy was definitely in the first 10. Her parents didn't produce any stripes the second year, of any color! And then I changed the sire for the third try.
