Platinums . . .

Even though the grandma to these was purchased from Rich (as a Charcoal Ghost, but proved to be a Phantom Anery)

Maybe I am an idiot, but isn't a charcoal ghost the same thing as a phantom anery (hypo charcoal anery, right?)?

But yeah, platinum sounds good to me!

PLATINUM is perfect Brent! Sometimes I have to stop for a second and figure out what some of the double, triple, morphs are...( duh me) If I hear Platinum I'll know what to expect. Also couldn't be a more perfect description ( esp. of the female)...unless you just want to call it a "Kyle's Quicksilver"?:spinner:

Here's some shots of grandma Platinum before I knew she was a Platinum and only thought she was a Phantom:

So Brent, how DO you tell a platinum from a phantom? Any subtle cues? How did you know your first platinums were really platinums?
Well . . . that's a story for another day. Does it really need to be told in order to name the morph?! ;)

No of course not. I just remember you asking me once if I thought my phantom (from Serpenco) might be one. I figured since you knew yours were platinums certainly enough to dub them, you must know how to tell. Perhaps while I'm away collecting data, my phantom will come visit you, and then you can figure it out for me! ;)

Let's just say that Granny Platinum (as I so affectionately call her now) was bred to a Snow het Hypo waaaaay back in '05 and produced a gorgeous clutch of 15 eggs. To my great surprise and delight, all 15 eggs hatched out as an Anery!! 4 Anerys and 11 Ghosts to be precise. That could only happen if Granny P (as I now so affectionately call her) was also homo Anery!!

The ghost pair I held back had to be homo blizzard. Bred those back to each other in '07 (Jay has the pair now and they just dropped eggs!) and by the statistics everything produced is going to be a Ghost (Anery Hypo) by itself or with other stuff (Charcoal and Amel) added in. The two Grandchildren P's (as I now will be calling them) looked like Charcoals immediately out of the egg along with the distinctive dark eyes and were very distinguishable from the regular old Ghosts. :shrugs:

I only know from tracking the genetics! In fact, I bred Granny P'num (yep, new nickname!) in '04 to a Normal het Amel, Anery, Hypo and got some Ghosts. I assumed Granny P'num was only het Anery at that point . . . I as quite surprised when she gave me all Anery morphs in '05. :) I think the reason I asked is that your phantom was a bit lighter/cleaner than some of the other Phantoms I've seen. It's something I've kinda noticed (just from pictures mind you) with the Anery Lavenders that I've seen. Lavender seems to mask the Anery, but at the same time they look a bit lighter/cleaner than "regular old" Lavender. I hope that made sense??!

Perhaps while I'm away collecting data, my phantom will come visit you, and then you can figure it out for me! ;)
Now that's an intriquing idea . . . hmmm.

Yeah, I found out that 'A' Anerythrism had snuck into my Charcoal Ghost project and pretty much gummed up the works for me...... :bang:

But from what I can see, the combination of 'A' Anerythrism, Charcoal, and 'A' Hypomelanism makes "Platinum" a pretty fitting name for that particular combo. :)

I love the name, and I love the morph (but then again I would, it's grey). Have you any comparison photos of phantom vs. platinum?

If I ever find my escapee Serpenco phantom I'll need to test-mate her for anery now, just to see! :)

There you have it. That's about as official as you can get! :dancer:

For what it is worth...I like the name....and I want to be on the waiting list! ;)
