S for Sam!
i dont know if this is allowed since they arent my dogs, but go to this website and check them out. i stumbled upon this website and couldn;t believe it. tommorow a beautiful black lab is going to die. and the next day another lab is going to die, and on the 12th another dog dies. i cant stand it. they are going to spend their last days in cold metal cages with noone loving them or caring at all. i am not allowed to have dogs at the moment, but if anyone else has rrom in their home you should consider saving them. this first girl only has until 5:00 pm tommorow to live.

im sorry im just bawling my eyes out right now because they look so happy and they have no idea what is about to happen. :(

God that's horrible, I hate looking because there's no way of me getting one right now. It's terrible to see such sweet looking dogs in such a dire situation, and I really hope they can find loving homes soon.

i am about to go get her whether my parents say its ok or not. i cant stop crying just picturing their hopeful faces.

It is absolutely horrible, but you can't save them all. It's so tough when you see there faces, and know their future, but that's unfortunately what happens when people don't care for their pets. I feel your guilt, but it's not your fault that you can't adopt them. If I had the space and resources I would adopt every dog I could, but there will always be terrible people that put these animals in this situation. I wish the very best for these dogs, and I desperately hope they can find homes quickly.

It is a sad thing! Really is, But it is everywhere! The rescue I Foster for .. the founder works for a SPCA, and Hand picks all of her dogs for the SPCA from Animal control..and I went with her one day to do her Pickings...and she had a List of 40 dogs to pick from.. all were going to be PTS that day if she didn't take them. It is tough, sadly we can't save them all. But if we tell ourselves.. that if we save at least one.. it is one that is safe. :( Very sad!

thats all im trying to do. the first one looks so happy and the boy with the sad eyes. :( its killing me.

I know how hard it is. But you have to realize that everytime you look on an animal rescue site that's what your going to see.
My daughters volunteer for our local animal shelter and the first couple months they were there, there was a dog Rachel fell in love with. Of course I live in an apartment that doesn't allow pets at the time and I couldn't take her in.
One saturday they went in and "her dog" was gone. Of course she was very upset because she had been told the dogs days were numbered the week before. But happily a couple adopted the dog and the dog now sails across the world as a first class sailor...lol
I do hope those dogs find home. But please remember you can't save them all and you can't stress yourself out each time you see a dog in a shelter situation.

rationally i know i cant save them all, or even one apparently since i am not allowed to bring a dog into my house. its just hard since i have wanted a dog since i was 3 and see them suffering when we have the means to save one.

thanks for the support everybody.

If you have the means to save one.. and you can't bring in a dog... Donate money to a local Dog rescue! They can use the funds to save dogs. And in a sense, your saving a dog :)

I couldn't agree with animal more! please give to your local shelter in whatever capacity you can. money, old blankets, food, fabric scraps they can use to clean.

that is a good idea. :) actually this has caused me to want to help more, and i think i have found a good shelter that i can volunteer at.

nothing yet, but he still had until the 12th. someone posted all three of them up about 10 times each on craigslist. thats where i origionally read about them. i guess they went to the same home too, so they will have a friendly face in their new home. (i called the shelter because i just about had my mom convinced to get the girl and i wanted them to hold her for me lol)

i know. would love to take him home, but i barely had my parents convinced for the lab, i dont think they would be convinced with another dog.

As someone who fosters rescues, I can tell you this goes on everyday at a thousand shelters across the country. Spaying and neutering your dogs and cats will help cut down on the number of animals in the shelters. Doing something to stop puppy mills will cut down on thousands more. I get 5 or more e-mails a week for dogs that are on the available list...many only have a short time before they are euthanised. One of our shelters holds dogs and cats for 3 days only. They are put to sleep the following Friday. Our rescue and several others must take all the animals there or they are dead. It's a sad but unfortunately true problem.

yea Meg, I know what you mean. I have to do the tough part of turning down people wanting to bring there dog to us, cause we are full to capacity! And we never seem to have a open spot long! It is tough to hear the sad storys of why someone needs to rehome there beloved pet.. But, there is only so much we can do. There are SO many more cats/dogs then there are people I think. We would all have to own like 10 .. and No more be breed to even get them all. It wont happen! Sadly! But I am glad for all rescues and shelters do for the homeless!

Please consider Fostering/Donating for a rescue.. Or even Volunteering at a shelter. Maybe offer to help post the dogs on Petfinder or somthing to help them be seen.

Good luck! :)

We do not take dogs from outside the pound. At least not often. We usually tell them to bring them to the pound and we will get them from there. Rare exceptions are young puppies who run the risk of getting parvo at the shelter. In that case, we require a donation before the dog is surrendered to us. If we took in every dog people got tired of or found, we would not be able to rescue a single one from the pound. Most of our shelters with the exception of the one I mentioned before, has an adoption program and puts available dogs and cats online on Petfinder. Many of them are adopted before we need to step in and do so.

i think i may have found a home for the shepard mix, so keep you fingers crossed.

it breaks my heart that this happens all the time, which is why im trying to do my little part. i give you guys a lot of credit for doing this all the time, i dont know if my heart (or wallet) could take it. i think i would be eaten out of house and home by all the dogs and cats that stole my heart. i know i have a cousin that works for a vets office and has ended up fostering 6 dogs that were just dropped off in front and that would have been put to sleep because of medical bills.
