I remember when my first corn snake, Pineapple, stopped eating, we gave in and bought a live pinky. It's not something I'd normally be will to do, but I desperately wanted Pineapple to eat and was at the point where I'd try anything. Pineapple wouldn't eat it, so then we had a live baby mouse on our hands. It was terrible. After much discussion, we realized there was no way we could keep it, it definitely wouldn't survive if we tried to grow it up, so I fed it to another one of my snakes. It was really hard to do, when its so small, and wiggling and capable of making noises. I wish I'd known then I could've put it in the freezer to let it die humanely.
When they are frozen, I honestly think of them only as food, just like ground beef or a frozen chicken breast. People at work are horrified to think I have "dead animals" in my freezer but *to me* its no different then having a piece of dead cow or poultry in my fridge.
