This question came up on another forum and had some interesting answers, so I thought I'd see what responses I'd get from corn oriented keepers. Go ahead and count all of your reptiles (even amphibians) though. Feel free to share how you decide to name them and why or why not you name them in the replies.

Yes

I have Snow (Snow White)
Henry
Ridley

Ok so anyone who watches once upon a time can see where the first 2 came from :)

Ridley is this super awesome black dragon from Metriod Prime(and other Metroid games)
I thought it was a perfect name for a big solid black snake.

I name just about everything though. Many of my fish have names as does a stuffed snake that hangs on my rear view mirror( Sergio)

I probably should have put one more option in, for the keepers who breed and name their breeders and keepers but not the offspring they intend to sell. I'm that way, everyone that is a keeper gets named but I don't name snakes that I'm planning to sell, although for some reason I usually find it easier to give my geckos I intend to sell a nickname. Every reptile that is going to be sold does get a letter and number designation for record keeping purposes though.
So I chose both option 1 and 4.

We name all of them.
We name some of them because of our affection for them as we do our cats.
The rest we name just to make it easier to refer too instead of going thru the frustration of trying to decipher which one we are talking about. It's easier to say " Charlie didn't eat today" than "champagne #1 didn't eat today", "oh the one that didn't eat last week?", " no, that was #3" routine lol. Also I try to use names connected with their species or morph like;
Dorian (Honduran)
Bubbles (Bubblegum)
Charlie (champagne)
Beauty and Beast (beauties)
Teddy (tegu)
etcetera, etcetera, .............................

Everyone deserves a name...

Snakes
Isis - Classic corn
Bosco - Snow corn
Westley - Strange Cargo Okeetee corn
Crystal - Leucistic black rat
Angus - Black milk

Lizards
Spike - Leopard gecko
Paisley - Northern blue tongue skink

I only have 2, so it's easy for me to name them.
The only pets I haven't named in the past were fish... because my family had a lot of them. It was a long-time hobby of my fathers, but we did name our favourites.

All my snakes are named. Frequently, hatchlings are named before they are sold. I usually do colors, flowers, a few movies characters, human names with meanings that match the snake...

I swear I am forgetting someone..... Not home now so it's memory! I don't even know how many I have.

I try to name everyone, but I am terrible at coming up with names! None of the lizards and tortoises are named, and there's 6 snakes still nameless.

The 7 with names..
Mallie (anery corn), DeeDee (ultramel anery mot corn)
Toby (San Diego gopher), Wyvern (Taiwanese beauty snake)
Atlas (BCI), Amun-Ra (Woma python), and Volvagia (rosy boa).

I greatly enjoy a dragon theme for the snakes.. Wyvern, Volvagia. Or a mythology/gods theme.. Atlas (Greek), Amun-Ra (Egyptian). Then there's just TV/movie/book characters I enjoy.. DeeDee (Dexter's Lab cartoon), Toby (Sweeney Todd). Volvagia fits 2 themes. She's named after a dragon in a Zelda game. :)

Well, if we are going to list names too, I'll play.

Snakes ...
Malcolm - Mandarin ratsnake (Firefly themed)
Inara - Mandarin ratsnake (Firefly themed)
Atari - Thai Bamboo ratsnake (was before we started the Firefly theme and it just popped into my head and I liked the sound of it)
Serenity - Thai Bamboo ratsnake (Firefly themed)
River - Thai Bamboo ratsnake (Firefly themed)
Zoë - Brazilian Rainbow boa (Firefly themed)
Wash - Brazilian Rainbow boa (Firefly themed)
Kaylee - Brazilian Rainbow boa (Firefly themed)
Simon - Brazilian Rainbow boa (Firefly themed)
Niska - Tricolor Hognose (Firefly themed)
Iroh - Green Tree Python (ATLA themed)
Atticus - Western Hognose (book series themed)
Indigo - African House snake (same book series as above)
Ukiah - African House snake (same book series as above)
Max - Tessera corn (same book series as above)
Tavia - Classic corn (was reading a bunch of books about the Roman Empire, it's short for Octavia but not for any particular character)
Vash - Phantom corn (based on two different book characters, one a dragon, the other a spy)
Stormy - Phantom corn (Just popped into my head and seemed to fit her)
Fiona - Honey corn (based on the Burn Notice character and a good fit for her personality)
Omri - Kenyan Sand boa (Omri and Zimri are my two favorite Bible names and I'd been wanting to name a pair of something that forever but the female KSB I had, I got tired of her biting me every time I had to mess with her and ended up selling her)
Esme - Rosy boa (my Mom named her, based on an old movie, I think)
Sebastian - Rosy boa (based on a book series character)
Emma - Rosy boa (daughter to the two above, just popped into my head)
Smaug - Honduran milk (one of my husband's first two snakes and named for the Lord of the Rings dragon)
Viserion - (my husband's other first snake, named for a dragon in the Ice and Fire book series)

Geckos ...
Miami - Crested gecko (don't remember how he ended up named that but it set the theme for the rest of the cresteds)
Maui - Crested gecko (my Mom named her)
Cairo - Crested gecko (she was named that by the person I got her from and it fit with the theme I had going on)
Luxor - Crested gecko (I bought him with the intent to pair with Cairo, so found a town I liked the name of in Egypt to name him)
Topaz - Crested gecko (available gecko juvi)
Jet - Crested gecko (holdback gecko that will probably get a different name when I know what the gender is)
Gizmo - Gargoyle gecko (took about a year to come up with but it set the theme for the rest)
Gadget - Gargoyle gecko
Gauge - Gargoyle gecko

Then one juvi crested and a rescue BP that are unnamed.

Good topic! I have too many to type out, but I had a "shoe" theme going for several years: Nike, Reebok, Buster Brown, Adidas, and Fila.

The names I choose now are varied; characters in books, names related to color and/or personality of the snake, or I keep the name that the previous owner gave, if any.

I used to name everything as well as assign them a number. Now everything gets an ID number upon hatching, but names are given as they develop a look or do something to inspire one. I have many yearling keepers without a name still.

I used to just name adults and keepers and give numbers to babies from a clutch meant for sale but now I give everything a name. With sibling babies from the same clutch I use alphabetical names... Last year I named some after flowers - Aster, Begonia etc, and another clutch got car names... Audi, Bentley etc. Having a name as well as number makes each one special in a way.

That is what I do with the baby geckos, pick a theme and nickname them all in it for that year, for some reason that made them easier to talk about in conversation, especially when I had 10 or 12 at a time. I'm wondering if that is not a volume issue, as I didn't have that problem with the litter of only 6 Rosy boas, designated 1 thru 6, was the only snake babies I had. If this year works out like we are planning, I might have to change that up, since we are hoping for three snake pairings and around 40 to 75 or so babies. It might be easier just to pick a theme or three and name them all to be able to know which one is being talked about! That is a lot of names to come up with though ...
