What, no offense to your opinion, but Clinton did more for our country than any other president in my lifetime. The Clinton years were golden for our country, and I feel Obama will make great changes to our country as well. You can't be a great leader without being a great public speaker, and I feel that Barack Obama has proven his sincerity with his past community work. I mean George Bush is the worst public speaker I've ever heard, and he was elected and re-elected. I also find it weird that we've never had a black president simply based on pejudice, and now that Obama is likely to win, people say that it's because of his appearence. Before this election if americans voted to choose what type of person they wanted to win, I doubt they would overwhelmingly say a young black man, with the name Barack Hussein Obama. I think even if you don't want Obama as president, you can't deny his inspirational rise, and he is already a part of history. We can't forget just forty years ago Martin Luther King JR was shot and killed, because of how threatened some people were by his leadership. He had a dream that america would allow african americans the same rights, and now we have a legitimate african american who could be our president. All I'm saying is, this rockstar label that Obama has been branded with is counter productive. He has earned his place as the nominee, and he is carrying the torch for all disadvantaged people. And is making history with his intelligence, leadership, and great views, not because he looks good on the cover of time, or is a "rockstar".

I find this whole election very very exciting....and very strange. No matter who wins, history will be made!
The reason it is strange is that I am very partisan, and a loyalist to my party. And my best friend Karen is my complete opposite. She has belonged to her political party her entire life. We don't talk about politics, usually, because we tend to argue. This election has been very different. I am not completely thrilled with the candadate representing my party, but view him as the lesser of 2 evils and am voting for him. But, I don't totally dislike the candidate representing the other party either. I'm fine with whoever gets in.

Karen, on the other hand tells me she is voting for the man representing MY party and that the other guy "just cannot get in...". For some reason I don't understand, the man representing the political party she has belonged to all her life is very unappealing to her. I can't figure it out for the life of me! Here I am telling her that no matter who gets in, the world won't end!

I think our goose is pretty much cooked no matter what happens on election day. One man cannot fix this mess, nor should he be expected to. But it's going to be a very interesting ride, to say the least!
Hang on tight :)

Good point Bethany.. Who ever gets in next will likely be very disappointing if we aren't realistic about our expectations. How the heck can someone come through on their promises while inheriting this economic mess?
I was talking to some friends last night and said if I were in charge of the Republican party, I'd be trying hard to lose this time.. Maybe that explains Palin? ;) (kidding kidding) People's memories are so short they could let Obama have this one and then blame him for the economic mess come 2012 and probably win on that, LOL.

One man can't fix this mess alone, no. But I think one man can inspire the nation to with real HONEST leadership. (I'm not ruling out either candidate on that) but I think he's going to have to be real about it. He's going to have to have a talk with us that's about sacrifice instead of just tax breaks (they are BOTH failing on that regard- though I hope it will change when they get in).. I got a kick out of them last night, they were asked three times what they were going to have to change in promises given the economy.
It was like, "I'm not going to say if he won't!" lol.

I could'nt agree more tom, I think that noone could completely fix this economic crisis. Because being so far in debt means we will have to get the money some how, and unless all the rich people in the world give up their fortunes, it will most likely depend on everyday people like ourselves. I very much agree with your point on leadership though, Obama will inspire much more people to do good with his leadership. Not saying that Mcain can't inspire people, I'm sure he inspires some people more than Obama, but let's be honest, in my opinion alot of the people inspired by Mcain might not be in the dire situations that people inspired by Obama are.
My point is this, as a whole I feel Obama will inspire young people, older people, white people, black people, people from other countries, etc.. And I think Mcain just won't reach people to that extent, especially the truly hopeless minority americans that have justification in thinking that there just are'nt equal oppurtunities, and I think Obama will. That's not to take anything away from Mcain, that's just a testament to Obama being so charismatic, intelligent, and relatable to every american in one way or another. I think even die-hard Obama supporters should be inspired by Mcain's bravery, and courage during his time as a POW.
All in all, I think even if you may not personally find Obama to be a great leader, you can't deny that masses of young people, matter of fact all people, that have never cared about politics before, now care because of Obama.
