With the election less than 6 weeks away, this is the time to really look long and hard at the candidates, I will post my choice in the replies section as to not have a bias topic.
So I ask you guys who do you think would be the better leader to represent our country in the 08' election?
 
personally I'm very excited to vote for obama, and I usually don't get too hyped for politicians, although I vote every chance I get (gov, sen, primaries etc...), just because we are lucky to be able to have a democracy.
I'm really not trying to convert any undecided voters, but all Mcain - Palin stand for are cristian issues that won't help the economy or the education crisis.
I think obama is very intelligent, and charismatic, and Mcain well...
and Palin is one heartbeat away from being our leader, and she is awful in my opinion, I know she is vibrant and refreshing for a republican, but her and Mcain just flat out scare the hell out of me.
Unfortunately people feel threatened by Obama because of his race, but he is so smart and although the president can't fix the world, he has the knowledge and drive to give his all to make it better, and he also is such an inspiration for everybody of every class, race, and ethnictity to see that they can as well live the "american dream", if there is such a thing.
All in all I hope obama is our next president, because Mcain agrees with Bush on 90% of all of the issues, and he would make a great leader for america, and a great inspiration for people across the world.
But voting is so important no matter who you like, and I think not voting is worst than voting Mcain (maybe not that bad lol), but seriously it's such a privelage to have, and so many countries are dictatorships where people are forced into a way of living based on one person, so we should be thankful to be able to vote.
 
Seriously, you couldnt handle the debate in a thread about wither or not to euthanize hatchlings, and you start a poll on the election? What are you thinking? Are you thinking? Check this out, I will not post, or vote in this thread at all after this post, guess what, you wont see me post in this thread again, for reals, not for pretend. I will not come back to this thread and post how I think I am right because I want ****** to win. And your wrong because you want :fullauto: ****** to win. See I aint even saying who I am voting for, because a thread like this does not in any way help this site. See yall on some other thread. Was that rambling and random enough for anyone?

I just really hate Palin, and since McCain is older theres a good change that she WILL step in, and I'd leave the country if that crazy "soccer mom" led the USA
 
I will vote for the Obama/Biden ticket. Not because I hate Sarah Palin, I don't know her, but what I do know makes me shutter.
I am pro-choice, anti abortion (as a means of birth control), I do believe in sex education in the schools.
I too can field dress a moose, but that doesn't make me VP material. When I lived in So CA I could see Mexico, but that doesn't make me knowledgable about foriegn affairs.
In her acceptance speech she bashed the media yet her major in college was Journalism.
I'm not sure Obama is the best choice or even the better choice, gut since Ozzy can't run I'll go with Obama.:twohammer
 
Well, being Canadian this isn't something that has a lot to do with me, but I see something in the US government that was in the Canadian government for a while - complacency. The republicans strike me as a party that is full of people that, like the Canadian Liberals, they deserve to rule. That's about when a party needs to get thumped at the polls, just to make sure both sides (Or, in Canada's case, all sides) continue to improve, or at least try to improve.

That said, I think Obama would make a great president. And I think this is a great moment for America. A black Harvard graduate is neck and neck in the polls with a white war hero. That says good things about the US.

Mike17 those sour grapes taste like Whine to me, but aside from the negativity I couldn't be happier to see novas response, I think race will be an issue to some voters but ingnorance is much fewer and farther between than in the past.
I am so excited about Obama's chances, and I would advise everybody to try to learn about Obama's history.
Yes he is an african-american Harvard graduate, and the first afirican american to be class president at Harvard, but he is so well rounded and knowledgable.
He could have used his colledge degree to accept a job in a law firm with a six figure salary, and firms were lining up when he got out of colledge, but he chose to live in the poor sections of Chicago for 10,000 a year for basic essentials, just so he could learn about the plight of the lower class, and he dedicated years to changing the education system and healthcare, I do respect Mcain for his courageous efforts as a POW, but I don't think that earns him the nomination.
Susan I also agree, in a perfect world people wouldn't need abortions or sex education, but there's just one thing... this world is far from perfect and women do have the right to make the choice, especially seeing Palins anti-abortion includes women who are sexually assulted, molested, or abortion because of the health risks of giving birth.
And that's just ridiculous, I hope Obama wins and I am so happy to see the support, even if your not as pro Obama as I may be, he is still the better candidate for the real issues, because church and state should remain seperated, and it's not like Mcain-Palin have a system in place for healthcare, education, etc.. to care for the children that may be affected by there ideals of a perfect cristian country.
 
I have to say that I'm sort of with Mike on this one...I'm not answering and I only foresee alot of trouble here. The only reason I'll have to continue to read this thread is because I'm a moderator and it's my job.
 
I have no disagreements about who anyone is voting for, I stated my favorite candidate and can respect even Mcain supporters for standing for democracy.
How can we have a poll about killing or "culling" snakes, but not one about who gets our vote for president, this is general chit-chat and I see plenty of topics that don't relate to snakes under this thread, plus it's anonymous to whom ever just feels like casting a vote, I will absoultely not criticize anyone for their opinions under this thread, and can understand your concerns.
But on a side note, I feel the other thread was more asking for trouble than this one, but I'm over it and vow to be more respectful in this thread, although I will defend my opinions so long as they are overly scrutinized seeing this is an open forum and that is my right so long as I stay within forum rules.
And I'm not sure the last thread was helpful to anybody either Mike, and I can also fill in the blanks with the machine gun icon pointed towards who I believe will be the next president, so let's not get carried away with pointing fingers at everybody else, I can already see aliances to other members that somewhat corrupt a free thinking forum but that's just my opinion.

The last thing American needs is another war president with out dated ideas. McCain and Palin are dangerous bullies who want to win for their own selfish reasons.
Obama wants to win to help America becasue we are going to hell in a hand basket and we despertly need change.

If you have a big problem with him, don't post. Nobody is forcing you to read his threads/posts.
This is exactly why I'm annoyed with this site. It used to be so much better...

Now, back on topic. I can't vote, but if I could I would vote for Obama. McCain is exactly like Bush. The US needs change, and Palin-McCain won't give us that. Just the same problems, again.

I could care less though, just one more year and I'm out of this damn country.
 
I did'nt post this thread to cause friction, it's just that I voted for Obama in the primary and he was ahead over any republican after they tallied the votes, and now on the news it's like leap frog as to who's ahead and I'm wondering where they get these "poll" numbers from, what forum do people vote from, and from what demographic.
So I started a poll on here just to get an idea of this demographics political views, because I haven't voted since the primaries so I'm wondering how the news is getting these "poll" numbers if there has been no official vote since the primaries, that's all.
And I'm very pleasantly surprised to see such a show of Obama supporters, I have such hope for the future of america with Obama as president, and it's so great that people on here agree.
And I can symothize with snakesrule, not that I dislike this "damn country" but it's hard especially when you're a young person, to watch the direction wer'e going as a society, when you see the unlimited potential we have, and it's like a breath of life to see someone like Obama who can keep up in knowledge and expertise with all of the politicians from my grandparents generation, and still speak for how us young people feel.
This is one of the most imporatant elections in american history, and although us young people are looked down upon, we will someday have to be responsible for this country, and for alot of us Obama is the leader that can unite us in a positive way, and start our long journey to being energy efficient, have fair and equal education and healthcare for people of every walk of life, socially and economically, and he can also be a great spokesman to open discussions between countries rather than handling all of our problems with military.

At this point, I'm going with Obama as the lesser of two evils. But the second his wife starts running the show, I'm moving to Canada. I cannot STAND Michelle Obama, and believe the power is going to go right to her head, and she's going to try and push HER agendas (which don't benefit anyone, btw). I believe Obama can clean up some of this mess, as long as his wife stays out of his hair.

I'm sorry if all you took from that was my puncuation, I guess it shows the larger picture of how
much "grown folks" value what we have to say as young people. But I guess insulting someones intelligence is easier than articulating your own, but toe to toe I think I'm well equipped to hold my own in any debate, philisophically or factually, so I come out unscathed once again!!!
 
As I see here in Belgium on the daily news ; there is so much information on Barack Obama that you almost forget there are other competitors too . He's visiting countries all over the world like it looks he's already in function .

But anyway , I wish you all a good and ........., .... ,..... new President

If you think that my little dig at your improper punctuation indicates that every "grown-up" dismisses the opinions of young people, then I'd have to say that you're really stretching things. Hyperbole much? There's also the fact that I'm not THAT old, and you're not THAT young. I considered myself a "grown-up" at 21.

Whoah, whoah-- slow down, my young friend! I insulted your punctuation, not your intelligence. I'm not sure what "articulating" my own intelligence means. Maybe the word "demonstrate" would have been a better choice. You see, the whole reason I poked a little fun at your punctuation is that I couldn't even force myself to read your comments. Language should flow, and decent punctuation is the key to this. Run-on sentences kill this flow, and readers may quit before they have received the awesome gift of your philosophical and factual wisdom.

You seem a little defensive. I'm only trying to help. ;)
