Problems with my new male

I have purchased a snow male as my creamsicle male has recently passed away.
He is about 18months-2years old, do you think he will be ready to breed next year?
The problem is; he seems up to weight, but he hasn't eaten for three weeks. Iv tried teasing him, feeding live and leaving him in a box with only the small mouse(and tried a pinkie). Any ideas? Probably a little premature to be worrying but iv had trouble with a snow corn that wouldn't eat before, do you think their is any connection or just coincidence.

Apologise if this is in the wrong section.

That depends on size as much as age. Is he at least 3 feet? That seems to be the magic number.

Sounds like stress. How much do you handle him? How much activity is there around his viv? You might try moving him to a quiet spot if he isn't in one already. Let him just chill out for awhile and then see if he eats.

How long did you leave him in the box with the mouse? Try putting a saucer in his viv and leaving a F/T on the saucer (to keep any substrate from being eaten) overnight. If it's gone in the morning, try putting another in during the day.

The fact that it's a snow and you had a poor feeding snow before is most likely just coincidence. Three weeks isn't terribly long, so don't panic. Give him some time to feel at home with you.

I have a yearling snow female & she has a fantastic appetite.

I have a baby snow as well, and Bing has the best appetite of all my hatchlings.
Then again, I had to return a snow to PetCo (Don't yell at me: I was young and naive ) because it wouldn't eat and seemed to have neurological problems. As I said, I think the not eating is a coincidence, nothing more. :grin01:

How long have you had your new male, what was the cause of your creamsicle's death, and are you housing your new snow in the same viv that you had your creamsicle in? I hate to have to ask, but these could be important questions.

Iv had the snow for about a month now. Im going to offer him a freshly killed tomorrow to see if hes interested.
The creamsicle had shed and eaten regularly right until the day he died, in fact he has shed three days and eaten 2 days prior to death, so it is a complete mystery. I bleached the viv and bowls etc and threw away any wood and bits.
