Progeny Predictor 3.01 release - Minor Update

Just uploaded version 3.01, which has the following changes...

- Eliminated the 'Quick Hints' flicker some users experienced when rolling the mouse pointer over the same area

- Added option to turn the Quick Hints function on or off, for those who find it distracting

- Added VBRUN300.DLL to the distribution .zip file to eliminate the need for a separate download

Download Version 3.01 Here

thanks for the update~
this is a great program that you have designed here and a lot of hard work into it~

I really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Thanks fo the program, but I have a problem, lol.

I downloaded and unzipped all the files, then when I tried to use it and press, "compute", it said, "invalid Arugument".
I was seeing what a normal het amel X a normal het amel would produce. (i know its normals (66% het) and amels). So for that all I pressed was amelanistic (het) on both female and male.

Thanks
Alex

Never saw that one in any version or on any system. But if you want to email me (address is in the program's About box) with your system details, maybe we can figure it out.

It doesnt work for me,but ive heard it is a great program

When you say it doesn't work for you, what exactly is the problem you're having, i.e. what's the error message? Feel free to email me.

Thanks alot Mick,it says the same thing as Alex Dew,wat do u think it could be

Right now, I don't have a clue. If you and/or Alex could email me with details, we might figure it out.
- what operating system are you using?
- what version of my program?
- did you download the full version or the update?
- had you used a previous version and which one and did it work?
- what folder did you put the extracted files in (e.g. C:\programs\cornsnakes or whatever)?
- list all the files actually in that directory.

Thanks.

Edit Added...if either of you is willing, I could email you a special version of the .exe that could help isolate the problem. Let me know if you're game. But let's take it to email so we don't clutter up the boards with trouble-shooting.

For anyone who might be getting the "invalid argument" error when you click the compute button... Try putting all the program files into a folder with less folders in the path and run from there, for example...

"C:\programs\cornsnake"
---- instead of ----
"C:\programs\myprograms\moreprograms\myotherprograms\stillmoreprograms" :)

It seems there's some limit to the length of the pathname VB 3.0 will allow when calling databases with certain database functions. Gotta love undocumented features! eMail me with any questions.

Mac version...

Mick,

Please, please, PLEASE port this over to the Mac's OSX.

I know you have heard it a million times but I love your program and Virtual PC sucks.

Thanks,
Troy

Mick, can I ask why in version 3.01 you removed the option to view the results in a grid? I preferred that method of viewing and it seems to be gone now.

Arson,
My program never had that. You might be thinking of Marcel's. The reason mine doesn't is that...
1) anything beyond a few genes would be too hard to read (you would scroll 'forever') and you'd have to mentally add it all up.
...and besides...
2) I originally wrote my program (way back in January '99) so that people would not have to mess with Punnett squares at all.

Ah, I apologize Mick. I must have been referring to another program. I saw a screenshot of one that look very similar to yours and assumed it was the same program. I can understand wanting to remove the grid for confusion's sake. I just like to see them. :)

Kudos to the designer

This is a great program thanks for all your hard work. Sure makes genetics easy

thanks again rich
