Progression thread for Naga

It's been a while since I last posted pics of Naga, so I have taken some of this morning's feeding.
He's nicely transitioned to weanlings (he's eating 16gr mice already!), no regurges and no issues. He just takes a bit longer to digest if he spends more time in the cool hide. He's also had a growth boom, currently standing at 114 gr (1 yr 3 months).

Are you feeding frozen thawed?

It cracks me up the way they think they need to Kill the Mice even though they are already dead.

Yes, yes, it's frozen thawed!! I always feed pre-killed mice.
The constricting response is the way I have chosen to feed him.
I have always encouraged striking response with the zombie dance since I think it's more natural for them and it's also a good deal of exercise. Plus, they stretch the mouse a bit and make it easier to go down. These mice are still a bit big for Naga and since I only have him it's no deal of time for me to do the zombie dance every time.
I understand other people won't like encouraging striking. So far I have not had problems with him striking my hands or becoming feeding-territorial, as I always caress him lightly on the back after he's done swallowing and then pick him up to let him slither back to his cave.

Yeah Rufus strikes and squeezes too. It just makes me laugh. The mouse is already dead. You'd think they could tell that.

This afternoon I've just had an amazing experience with Naga I want to share.
He'd been in shed for a week and a half and he thought he'd shed today. He usually sheds fast, but today he roamed the viv for a while and took a big poo. And I thought... he's probably gonna go over it while he sheds, so I took him out and cleaned it.
While he was on the RUB I saw he had started to peel his head, but had difficulty going on because it's smooth and the skin slipped. I had not yet finished conditioning his viv, so I thought I'd try help him shed.
Well, not only he didn't care at me looking at him (and usually doesn't), but he actually shed in my hands, while I held his skin and let him come out of it. Never had happened to me before. It was amazing, as I could see the full process at a very close distance.

I'll post some freshly shed pics tomorrow with better lighting.

yup, that's very cool when the little guys know we're their friends and don't mind stuff like that. I've had a similar experience with sheds too.

Sure, you feel pretty bonded to them in these moments. It's kinda they don't express feelings with their faces, but with small concessions like these.

Glad you also had the chance.

I've just taken a pic of him, when he's come out to say hi (I know he wanted to say: hey, gimme a mouse, I'm hungry!). I'll feed him in a while, when the mouse is thawed.

Thank you! I guess he won't be changing much in color from now on, so I start to get the notion of his final coloration.
That's the bigger hide already, not the same in the pic in the shed thread. He was pretty cramped in there, so I gave him a bigger one for last month's cleanup. The opening is quite small, I agree, but the inside is big for him.

Quick update on Naga. He shed this night and I found the skin half burrowed. He must have burrow-shed. We skipped meal for the first time ever, and he's desperate for mice.
Here's a pic I just took to measure him. Currently 1 year and 5 months, 169gr and roughly 85,5 cm.

Thank you! I don't post that often, but I'm following your babies, as well. Clyde is awesome. I love his little cat eyes, and your Cleo is ever yellower. I really like butters and I'll get one when I have the space. Have a good week!

Neraly a month without uptades, I'm so busy right now... I'll post some pics maybe next week, when I have a while to take them (I do take Naga out every day).

Reason of my uptade? Well, I think Naga is looking for love. He's only 1 and a half, so I thought we might skip the heat this year, but nope. He's out and about almost 24/7, messing hard with the substrate making tunnels and pushing caves or the water bowl, climbing nonstop and always looking to go out. The thing is, when he does come out, he's very relaxed, as his usual self. He's also decided he likes to sleep in his water bowl, which he's not done since he was like 4 months. Of course, he wants to be handsome and smell well for a prospective girlie.
I don't know how much more this will last, but it's been going on for like 2-3 weeks. He's even started to slightly peel off the outermost skin layer in his nose (the transparent one).
I'ts very interesting to see all these new things for the first time, but in the mean time, I have to deal with my lovely adolescent child.

Ok, so promised pics today and bonus video: caught him drinking.
On the vertical one he even posed. I had to take it vertically because he didn't fit in on a horizontal one.
I haven't weighted him for a while, but he must be over 170 gr already. And it also seems love mode has already passed. He's peeled all his face and is pretty rough on the body, so I'll be waiting for next shed for him to be handsome again.

Naga looks awesome. He doesn't look at all rough in the pictures. Glad he's settled down on the lady hunting. Your viv is so beautiful, too. The drinking video is beyond cute. I still can't believe how big he's gotten!

Thank you both.
Karl, I think Rufus is also a very nice stripe. I would like to have one like yours in a future. And although yours is a bit younger I think they have a similar length and weight by now.
Dolly'sMom, it's mainly his face. And yes he's so big. To think he may grow like 30-50cm more and double weight makes him look still so small, though.
It's becoming odd to hand manipulate him, because he's so long and I have to adjust my handling. I still remember when he only needed crawling in my fingers and palm, aww.
I usually never show my setup but that's mainly its appearence: not minimal but not very crowded. I just shift the husbandry around a bit. I might add a fake fern in the front part sometime. It's hard to see in this pic, but next to the bowl there's another cave, the one that shows in the vid.
