Question about 2nd clutch

Hi, my corn Peaches laid her first clutch April 1st and I think she may be about to lay another clutch. If she is then she is about to have her pre-lay shed and I should get eggs soon, but is it possible for her to become gravid again that fast? And will she be okay, she was still working on putting weight back on from the last clutch.

My understanding is that, if a female double clutches, the second clutch is, usually, laid approx. two months after the first. In my very limited experience, with double clutching, this time frame held true.

Not sure why you think that Peaches is going to double clutch but ... 1) first clutch April first ... 2) she seems to be going into shed (?) ... 3) it will take "x" amount of days to shed ... 4) if she is going to lay, the eggs will be laid approx. 10 days - 2 weeks (give or take) after shedding.
So, if she is just going into (or is in) blue, and given the time it takes to shed & lay eggs, it may be possible that Peaches will double clutch, as you say, "that fast".

Double clutching is harder on females who are "rail thin" from their first clutch. I cannot tell you if Peaches will be okay because I do not know her condition & other factors ... nor am I psychic.;) However, if she is in good health, has been eating since laying the first clutch, etc. ... I would venture a guess in saying that Peaches should be okay if she double clutches.

I think she is going to double clutch because she is showing the same signs as her last clutch. And she never refuses a meal the only time she ever refused was when she was gravid. After she laid her eggs she ate 2 mice a week, so she was putting weight back on. Thanks for reassuring me she'll be ok this is my first time breeding and I worry a lot. She's my baby I don't want anything bad to happen to her. Thanks again for your reply.
