Question about feeding

whoute

New member
Hi. Our snake is currently on 1 large mouse a week.He is shedding basically every month, and has only ever missed a feed once in the 9months we've had him. (or her).

24hours after he has eaten there is still a visible lump, but each week this is getting smaller as he grows. My question is....

What do I feed/ How often do I feed when this lump is no longer visible 24hours later? Should i feed more often? Or 2 at a time?

Thanks for you help,

Ruth

Most adult corns will thrive very well on one large mouse every 7 days. But if you feel she/he isn't getting enough food from that 1 mouse you could always go up to 1 small rat. Which isn't much larger the a large mouse but has more fat content. I've fed Tiaga small rats for the last 6 months because I was a stupid snake owner who wasn't feeding her correctly and she needed to pack on some weight. She now is looking good and will now be fed 1 large ex breeder mouse a week.

It depends upon how large, the large mouse is. I've gotten some that were pretty small, to be honest. My largest adult corns eat a rat weanling or pup every week or two. Your snake sounds like it's only a little over a year old, unless it was older when you got it?

Id guess he was only a few months old when we got him, He wasnt very big, only about a foot long, and about as thick as a little finger. As i said, we've had him for about 9months, so he's probably coming up to a year old.He doesnt look fat. but whats "fat" for a snake?he doesnt look too thin either....He looks like a healthy snake.

How can I tell if he's not getting enough out of the one large mouse a week? Are there signs I should be looking out for to say he's "hungry"?

Thanks again for your help.
