Hey..I just have a quick question..
I have to bring an object to school for my Sociology class that explains who I am. I was thinking of bringing my snake, GJ, but I don't know how that would be for him. I'll be at school for 3 hours, do you think he'll be fine in a box? I think it'd be fun to show the class. What's your opinion? I've taken him out before to my job to show coworkers, and he was fine, except for some hissing. Do you think he'll be too stressed out for 3 hours? The weather tomorrow will be around 57 degrees..but I'll be inside. Will that be too cold for him? I'm just worried about him..I'm sure he'd be okay..But I'd like someones input asap since it's tomorrow morning. Thanks!
 
If he's hissed before when you've taken him places, I would say it stresses him out. I take my snakes to school when I teach Mendelian genetics, but I don't take the wiley ones, I take the calm ones.

I shouldn't think the temp. will be a problem for a couple of hours as long as you're inside. Keep him on a desk, though, because the floor might be colder. If you do decide to take him, I would DEFINITELY put him in a pillowcase with a knot tied in the top and keep that inside a box, to prevent escape.

I think the decision is yours, but it sounds like from past experiences, you already know it will stress him out some.
 
I will occasionally bring one of my snakes to hang out at work with me, but I put her in one of those plastic Kritter Keepers that have the snap-in-place lid with some of her aspen substrate from her cage and at least 1 nice hide, and some fake foliage. This way, she doesn't have to feel really exposed, and I don't have to worry about any escapes.
 
I agree with ty. If I have to take my snakes anywhere with me, I get a critter carrier, and put some familiar objects in it - Bedding, hides, etc. Mousetrap is already the most docile snake I've ever met in my life, but I feel it keeps him less stressed when he can curl up in the bedding that he's used to.

Is it ok with your school to bring a snake in? You may need permission before you are allowed to bring your snake in.

That's a good point. Of my 3 snakes, I only choose between 2 to bring to work, because the third is too melodramatic and gets all antsy and bitey when she's in an unfamiliar area.
 
I ended up not bring him..So no worries. :)
I just compared myself to a remote. Push my buttons the right way, good things will happen. Push my buttons the wrong way, you don't want to know what will happen.
