Question on Otis

So experts out there I have a pretty huge question that in pretty worried about!! My little baby does not seem to be too good at holding on to me like my other corns do so naturally!! Like when I handle him he he doesn't grab on with his tail!! Is this something he has to learn or could there be an issue here?

My little babies don't grab as well as the older ones. I never thought about it before. I don't think anything is wrong with your baby.

I hope not!! He is much younger and smaller than any babies I have gotten so far so maybe I'm just not used to this age. He just falls off of my arm or on parts of his cage decorations a lot so I was worried!!

He is still pretty small, there's not a lot of tail there to work with. LOL

Can you tell if his tail just hangs limp all the time, or is he able to move it?

If he's able to move it then there's probably nothing to be concerned about.

Some babies just don't cling as much as others. Tango was only so-so at holding on, but my two new hatchlings wrap tightly around anything I put them on. I had others at RbM that would just kind of plop to the floor if you didn't grab them.

Snakes don't get a lot of exercise in the egg LOL so their muscles take some time to strengthen. I've had some hatchlings that are like limp noodles out of the egg that eventually gain strength and are perfectly fine now. There are variations for sure.....
NO Worries :)

Personally I had this same question, I have two corns, one is 7 months and the other about 6 months, the 7 month old, my lavender never coils around my arm or holds on, she would rather just fall off whereas my other likes to become a bracelet and holds on just fine. Both are from different breeders and the one I got my lavender from kept her in a small kind of flat enclosure with nothing to climb or coil on so I think she just never learned, it hasn't effected her in any way over the past few months I've had her I just think she lacks that instinct but as she gets older it will develop more. I'm sure your little guy is just fine, it seems to me to be a symptom of domestication and lack of the need to do so.

Well thank you everyone I feel much better about this now and will just keep an eye out and hope that he event gains the strength and muscle control to hang on!!
