I want to get a corn snake... But I know NOTHING about snakes. So I was hoping someone on here could help me out... Tell me anything I need to know about caring for corn snakes! I want to know how big his home should be? Can I use an aquarium? How often do I feed it? It needs heat what kind of heat do I use? Also how much should be the highest I should pay for a corn snake?

If I were you I would look around the site go to the Husbandry and Basic Care section and you will find what you seek. Also you can buy Kathy Love's book on Corn Snakes. Here are some answers to your questions though.

1) Adults need around 40 gallons, hatchlings are usually put in a 10 gallon but make sure there are plenty of hides and fake plants on both the hot and cool end.

2) Yes you can use an aquarium with a lid and lid clamps. Although there are quite a few threads on corns kept in aquariums and have escaped (especially hatchlings).

3) Feeding schedule depends on the size/weight of the corn snake google the Munson Plan, it's a good general overview.

4) You will need an Under Tank Heater controlled by a thermostat (you MUST buy a thermostat, otherwise the UTH will become way to hot for you corn)

5) You spend as much as you want on one. But be wary, you get what you pay for, many times cheaper is not always better.

On question #5 I would suggest that you look through pictures of as many of the different morphs as possible. Then choose which one you like best and get that one. If it means you need to save up a little bit longer to get the snake that you like best, then do that. You are going to have this pet for close to twenty years if not more with proper care. If you choose just the cheapest one or the easiest one for you to get now, you will for sure end up getting another later, not that having more than one is a bad thing, it just depends on what all your resources are.
