My female Puget that had an eye infection about a year ago died tonight. I'm thinking maybe it was due to damage to her brain from the infection that might have been aggravated by her recent growth spurt. She was such a pretty, well mannered snake and will be missed.

My question was, I'm thinking I will probably rehome Rikki, the male Puget. He's a little over a year old, was born July 6 2009. I'm not really sure what a fair price to ask for him would be. Does anyone have an idea of what would be fair? I might decide not to sell him after all but would still like to know.
 
Sorry to hear of your loss. Was the vet unable to treat the infection? I had both eyes of my false water cobra infected with yeast and it took 5 surgeries and a year to get rid of but she was fine.
 
We gave her Baytril (sp) shots when it started. She had gotten very swollen around the eye and her nostrils. The vet said the infection was in the globe of the eye and starting into her sinuses. She got this infection, that I really started to notice, two days after she arrived from being shipped. The vet didn't really want to say one way or the other, but clearly didn't think her chances to survive were good. She had treated a gopher snake and a rubber boa with the same type of infection. The gopher died and the boa lived, but neither of them were as little as Tikki, she was about 8" and 3 grams when she got the infection. Despite that she did live, eventually the eye fell out with a shed, it was destroyed by the infection. She stayed pretty small for a long time but otherwise seemed to thrive. Then she went through a big growth spurt that lasted a few months and awhile after that she stopped eating. That didn't worry me too much at first but about two weeks after she stopped eating she started displaying neurological symptoms, kind of stargazing stuff. She wasn't doing it all the time, just two or three times a day. I was going to try one more time to feed her, the night she died, then if she didn't eat I was going to make her an appointment with the vet. I thought there was still time, she had gotten thinner but was still strong feeling. I don't know for sure why she died, just wondered if there was a fault there that was fine as long as she was little but got stressed with her growing fast.
