Raccoon Revenge

This makes me cringe.

I'm from so-cal, and don't really see raccoons much. I think they are beautiful creatures. What do you guys think? Are they common in your area?

Here in SD, we have a wide array of beautiful animals, raccoons are pretty common... but so are deer, pheasants, antelope, rattlesnakes, and bull snakes. In the Southeast where I live, we have quite a few different unique species of snakes as well that aren't anywhere else in the state.

They're very common in our area. The smaller ones come in and out through the cat door to share their food. The bigger ones stay outside, thankfully :).

We have all the usual suspects in the area: Raccoons, opossums, coyotes, foxes, owls, snakes, deer, etc. We usually see them at night.

I have to admit I'm not very fond of them now. When I moved into our house, the thing I was looking forward to the most was having bird feeders in my back yard. But a raccoon haunts our neighborhood and he eats all the bird food and destroys the feeders. I cannot have any birds in my backyard because of him. I have been racking my brain to find a way to repel him, but so far nothing has worked. If any of you have raccoon repellant tricks up your sleeve, I'd like to hear them. I have nothing against them in the wild. They're adorable. But I do resent the one who rules my back yard.
