My Favorite is melodic metal/rock. Queensryche, Savatage, Fates Warning, and Dream Theatre.
Classic Rock- Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, STYX, Triumph, Kansas, and especially RUSH.

Seeing how these kats are rarely ever played on the radio; I listen to more Jazz than anything. Stanley Clarke (and anything he's been in), Fourplay, Richard Elliot and many, many, more.

Hah! I've been listening to the "East River Drive" CD as I read this.

I got to meet Richard Elliot after a gig at Shank Hall (the venue took the name of the then-fictitious club in "This Is Spinal Tap") in Milwaukee. He's a true gentleman, and was very encouraging towards a passionate but talent-free jazz geek learning to play tenor at the time. :)

regards,
jazz
