Reptibid Rant...

Shep151

Too busy to hang out.
Hey, it's my turn for a rant! Woo Hoo!!!! :crazy02:
Here it is:
I dig Reptibid. I've had good and bad experience there as a seller, and good experience there as a buyer (no bad, knock on wood!)
I DO NOT dig Reptibid's "business" practices. They, for the most part, do not enforce ANY rules, the place is rampant with scams/inaccurate info, and the category system is abused constantly, and there appears to be no enforcement of any policies. Customer support is nonexistent, from what I understand. I've received many inquiries on how to get someone from the site admin to contact an individual with problems, and it just doesn't happen.
So... I can deal with all this, because it's a headache that's associated with free sites. Typically support is not as good on pay sites.
Now Reptibid II arrives. I can only assume it's poising its nasty self to completely replace Reptibid, except it's a PAY SITE!
All I have to say is that I will absolutely NOT give them the benefit of the doubt, and will not be listing anything for sale there until they've shown themselves to be worthy of a fee. I don't pay for headaches.
*steps off soapbox*
Thanks for sharing my rant, I feel much better! :)
Have a great day, folks!

Shep I totally agree with you. There is absolutely no enforcement of their rules or policies! I will spend my hard earned money here & at kingsnake.com.

Heh, they want people to pay to be ripped off by sellers and buyers? Pay for deadbeat bidders and for no bids on the auctions?

Reptibid 1 is bad enough that we are contemplating writing a private auction site for some of these "How the heck do you price them?" corns we will have for this year. The main reason for doing this instead of just listing on Reptibid? So that we can boot anyone that is a b.s. bidder and keep the auction site clean and worth something. A "No Deadbeats" clause if you will.

Gotta hand it to Craptibid, that takes muchos juevos to make people pay for that site. Ebay, they are not.

Reptibid blows. There are way too many deadbeats and scumbags, and they don't care.

I find it laughable that they think it's worth paying for. What a joke.

I can't help but to be curious about this new ReptiBid II. (And the first ReptiBid is officially gone now...i wonder what happened to any auctions that were still running?) So far I am "playing along" with them. I wanted to share that in addition to sending a verification email in which I had to click on the link in order to re-establish my account, they also sent an automated verification PHONE CALL to make sure the # I gave was valid and that I was really at that number. The recording gave a 4 digit # I had to key in on their website in order to re-establish my account. I will be lurking for awhile before I decide if I ever want to try listing anything there again.

Sorry I am a dork...although there is a message that says "Registration and Selling have been disabled on the former auction site" - they do provide a link to the old site and it seems any auctions that were already running are still there.

Shocker!!!!

Despite the site's claim: "If you already are a Reptibid / ReptileAuction user, then all of your feedback has been transferred to the new system and your username and password is exactly the same as it was for the login on the old system."
My old ID and PW don't work on Repti-Pay. :eek1: I shot them an email via their "contact us" form on the new site. I guess this is my first test of their "turning over a new leaf", service-wise.

yeah I didn't go through w/ the PayPal verification when I saw that. I won't be ready to shell any $ over to them for awhile, if at all!

I guess $2.00 wasn't enough to verify your Paypal status. Now you have to pay $5.00.

Then if you do sell something, Reptibid takes nearly 3% in addition to ad creation fees along with the 3% you give to paypal for the transaction. It's almost like the seller "gets" to pay sales tax for everything they sell.
Naw...I think I'll hold off and stick to the good people here.

LOL, I'm also enamored with the 24 online support...

Now what would happen if say you were already Verified by Pay Pal through Ebay? Is it different? And I still believe sellers that ask a fee to use anything for paypal is against their TOS or have they changed that policy? I would think that would be the same for Auction sites as well as Sellers. To me Pay Pal is well worth some of the hassles I am sure I have avoided for their 3% fee although I have stated I would not accept Pay Pal on a large item I sold on Ebay but stated that in my description.

I agree, Paypal is well worth the greater number of buyers that will purchase and in a timely manner and it's worth the ease of the transaction.

However, paying Reptibid 3% for what has always been transactions that are more hassle than they're worth, if they happen at all, is something I'm not willing to do. I guess it doesn't matter, anyway. They aren't losing me as a customer over it. I was lost before. ;) Who knows. Maybe they will upgrade their service and drive off deadbeats. They certainly couldn't come in any lower in that regard before.

Agreed 100% Connie. Ebay charges listing fees and asseses final selling fees but even myself NEVER using Repti Bid, I can tell you that they are NO EBAY. I was mainly questioning the $5 to be verified and if this is even acceptable to PayPals TOS. I would love to be able to avoid using them at all costs, but I still like to go browse the ads. I saw this somewhere once might relate but its in boa terms. I found it funny anyway.
There are four types of people that use reptibid
1 The Scammers
2 The Scammed
3 Joe Rollo (BCI Joe)
4 And the lucky people that buy from Joe Rollo.
I am sure you could substitute Joe Rollo for your favorite Corn breeder that possibly uses them.
