I just got back from the New England Reptile Expo, and I came home with two great Corn Snakes. I promised my brother I would get him a snake under 50$, that was healthy, friendly, attractive, etc.. And I got him a beautiful Bloodred, for an amazing price (won't post price because I don't want him to know). I also got myself an Anery Bloodred, who is also very amazing. I will post pics under this thread later tonight, after they settle in.
At first I was looking to get a Ghost Bloodred that I saw online, from a vendor who was going to be there. The price was good for a GBR, but I could'nt afford to spend that much on a snake today. But I purchased my Anery from the same vendor for 85$, and he had the best color of the anery's, and rivaled a GBR in his appearence. I saw two other Anery Bloodred's for 40$ after I bought mine, but I still would have gotten the one I did anyways. The other two were beautiful as well, but I love the one I got. And the vendor had a much better buisness, which the breeder means alot to me, not just the morph. I have a slight feeling the Bloodred might be Pied sided, because he has distinct white running up the side of his neck, that almost goes 1/3-1/2 up the side of his neck. And there are patches that similairly trail his side, along different parts of his body, but I'll post pics for opinions. Either way he was a steal, and he will be incredible as he matures. I can't wait to show them off, and you can judge for yourself how great they are!!!
 
Update*
Yay, both of them just ate. I did'nt want to over do it, but they both seemed somewhat on the thinner side. And seeing the Bloodred was only 25$ (oops, I gave away the price), I was nervous he was a non-feeder, Even though I asked about him and he seemed healthy. Well anyways, they ate so I'm very happy. It only took about 3mins, and now the're safe in their seperate cages. It was definitely my best day at the show overall, because I got some really cheap supplies, that would be 4x that at the pet store. Unfortunately pics will have to wait a day, seeing I don't want to disturb them. But I am thrilled that they ate, and I can't wait to see how they change, seeing both have bloodred genes.
 
You know your supposed to leave them alone for atleast 5 days before you do anything with them right? Feeding them probably will stress them out and you might have some problems in the future feedings.
 
I appreciate you trying to help, but I'm sure they'll be just fine. Both were on the thin side, so 5 days would probably do more harm than feeding them now. And I really needed to know that the Bloodred would eat, because the price made me think he might be a non-feeder. They were quite calm when I took them out to feed, and showed no signs of stress. I also just fed 1 small pinky each, to lessen the risks of regurgitation. I know certain husbandry techniques would state otherwise, but it's my instincts and experience that have really benifited me most. And although I usually take it very slow, I think the situation called for feeding them. Had they been frantic in any way, I would have waited, but I have a really good intuition about what I should do, And it has yet to do me wrong. Not that I recommend people feeding them so soon, but I am very gentle in handling and feeding my snakes.
 
Different strokes for different folks. Not all snakes are the same. Some will eat after a trip, some won't. Either way congrats on the new beauties :D

I also feed some of my snakes when I first get them. Not any that are really flighty or seem stressed, but the calm ones and the kings usually get a meal within the first 1-3 days that I have them...

The ones that eat when offered like that have never given me a problem. The ones that refuse...well...some keep one refusing for a while, others come around. I don't think offering them food has really made much of a difference overall...
 
yeah, I agree. If the snake was really showing signs of stress I would've waited, but I needed to know if they would eat. I think people wait to feed because they like to air on the side of caution, rather than them having a bad experience. I really doubt it will have a negative impact, if anything I think it was a good idea, atleast for these two particular snakes, because they seemed hungry.
