My first ever non-corn snake breeding took place today... I also have 1.1 Durango Mountain King snakes (Lamprepeltis mexicana greeri).

They did not stay hooked up for long, and the 'goop' at the bottom of the tub afterwards was clear, not bright yellow like the corn snakes. I don't know if this is normal for this species or not, but my plan is to reintroduce King Diamond and Abigail a few more times in the next week or so while she is receptive. I hope this works, I'm a total rook to king breedings but I have read every bit of info I can find. I guess I was expecting it to be kind of like breeding corns where it takes like half an hour and you usually find plenty of 'evidence' in the tub afterwards...

Congrats Jen! Must have been a "quickie" :grin01:
I have never bred kings either, but Bob Applegate says it can last for a few minutes, or hours! :eek1:
Beautiful kings

Thanks Mike... heh, either it was a quickie or I messed it up by disturbing them for the photos. I think I'll leave them alone next time!

My florida kings were at it from 4pm well into the wee hours of the night. I finally went to bed at 11pm and they were still hooked up---and I have no idea how long that continued.

I'd just re-introduce in a few days.

update

well Abigail celebrated cinco de mayo by laying a clutch of ... eggs or slugs? I thought they all looked like slugs when I was putting them in the incubator, but a couple of them are starting to look like maybe they're ok. Here's pics. I hope at least one will hatch that looks like K.D. !

Thanks, last night when I was getting them they all felt really watery and looked shiny like corn egg slugs do. A couple of them seem to be firming up in the incubator though. I just hope murphy isn't around!
