I just bought a rosy boa from a pet store a couple days ago. its orange and white. when i got it home i noticed what seemed to look like a little bruise almost on his head, but figured that was just it's coloring. i fed it and it ate like a champ and seemed perfectly fine. however this morning when i was holding it, he was moving kinda jerky, like was "studder stepping" like those chamelons do. sometimes he would move regularly and sometimes he would do that start stop jerky moving. do you think he was dropped before i got him and hit his head? or am i just being paranoyed? thanks!

Without seeing it, that sounds sort of what my rosy moves like. They also stare up in the sky a lot!

Lots of snakes move in a "jerky" fashion at times. I think it might have something to do with the amount of stimulation they are recieving either visually or through their tingues...not sure though.

As Nanci said...without seeing it a diagnosis would be impossible. But it doesn't sound out of the normal...

Just a thought......You say you bought it a couple of days ago and fed it, now today you are handling it? It may still be digesting and therefore not want to be touched. :shrugs:

For corn snakes it is recommended not to handle them for 2 to 3 days after a feed, to allow them to digest in peace, so as not to cause a regurgitation of the meal, which is bad for the snake.

With my Rosy boa, I err on the side of caution and allow another day or so before handling, because her digestion seems a lot slower than my corns.

Hope that helps :)
