hey all, ive had a very hard day today, well today i rescued a royal pyphon and a kenyan sand boa, well where should i start.

well today i went to my mates house to find a royal and a sand boa in terriable state, i mean there was fungus and some over stuff growing in the royals viv, and then i find out the royal and boa hasnt had heat in 9 MONTHS, the royal is thin and was freezing, my mate said he is very aggressive, the reason he didn't bite me is because he was cold as ice i mean very cold, and then what makes me mad is that he said he hasnt fed the royal in about 5 months, the royal is only a baby

other than that he seems fine no mites, checked his health, nothing out of the ordenary, seems fine just frozen and starved, oh yeah forgot to mention, he said the reason he didnt feed the royal is because he thought he would bite him so basicially he starved him,

well the boa isnt that bad well kinda not, he was fed last around 3 weeks ago, and a sand boa is ment to be fat bodied snakes but omg he is as fin as a pencil no lie, and they both in shed,

well im going to get food for them both tomorrow now they are in the warmth thank god, ive spent all my christmas money on rescuing them, today i was ment to go hang with my mates well instead rescuing 2 snakes that are in terriable state, and the problem is i have no clue how to look after them, well not a royal and a sand boa, so im looking as much care as possiable so i know what im doing, ill post pics of them when settled, thanks for listening,

Aw man that really sucks and is really sad.. I hate to see such situations, but it is so very common for this type of thing to happen. It is good that you have rescued them. You are a good person for that :) And I am sure they will be very thankful. The care is not that much different from that of a corn. As I am sure you have found in your search about them. I would suggest getting them settled in a bit before feeding them. At least a few days. Get them to the right temps and make sure they have water. After not eating for so long, I would feed them a smaller sized rodent then they would normally eat for the first feeding or so, just to get their system back on track. Good luck with these guys :) They are lucky you came along when you did..

I'm glad you rescued them from such a bad state...Here's wishing much luck for you with them in the future..I'm sure under your care, they'll thrive and be nice chunky snakes in no time :0)

Oh, wow! Good job, and I hope you gave the guy a piece of your mind. Congrats on the save, and THANK YOU for taking them on!!! I'm sure they'll be the PERFECT little snakes once they've got some food in their bellies again. :)

They're both great snakes, too. I don't know much about royals, but Kenyan Sand Boas are great... Keep the warm side at about 90-95*F (don't know what that is in Celsius, sorry). They're desert snakes, so low humidity is good. They like to burrow: I use aspen for mine. I think the python's heat requirements are similar, only they need much higher humidity... Good luck with them!!! =)

I think it's time for a new mate!! I cannot understand some people! If you can't handle or take care of your pets, there are organizations out there that will take them in.

I am so glad that you found them and are taking them in.

Good Luck,

Wayne

You did a very brave thing by saving the poor snakes.
Why are so many humans unable to act ethically human against other creatures?

Wouldn't be my mate anymore.
Good luck from me too!
