Sexing baby corn snake?

Hi, I'm new and I recently got a baby amel corn and would love to know the gender so I can eventually breed him or her.

I'm not comfortable sexing it myself because I don't want to hurt it you know. Does anyone has any info on where I can go to find a specialist or a vet who can do this for me?

Thank you :)

It's fairly easy to "pop" a baby corn snake.

Are there any specialty pet shops near by? If there are any reptile shops someone who works there might be able to sex your snake for you. You could also wait for an expo and ask a breeder. My experience has been that snake people are generally friendly and helpful.

You can also take a picture of the underside of the snake's tail. Make sure the picture includes the vent and the tail after, belly side up. The width of the tail after the vent and how fast it tapers can be a good indication of Male Vs. Female.
A tail that tapers quickly and is short is most likely female. A tail that stays wide, doesn't taper for awhile, and is long is generally a male.

Here's what male and female anatomy looks like when you pop. Please excuse the dirty finger nails..

You can probably look up the technique on youtube or read about it on Kathy Love's website. I taught myself from reading other's techniques. Of course if you do not feel comfortable, wait until a professional can help you.

Male

Female

Once snakes get older you need to use probes.

Thank you for all the info and pics!!

I'll take a pic of Diablo's underside and see as soon as possible; the tail is pretty long and skinny so I have a feeling its a she. But just to be safe I'm gonna wait until an expo comes into town, didn't even think about that. Hopefully it's soon :)
