Poor College Student
My female cornsnake is just about ready to lay her eggs. She has her nest, its been about the right length of time, she looks ready, and she just shed almost a week ago. The only problem is that she just shed for a second time in a week. I have not read anything like this on the forum, and I was wondering if this is abnormal or if something is wrong. This is her's and my first attempt at breeding and I don't want anything to go wrong. So if anybody knows anything about this I would appreciate any information.

I have had the occasional snake shed twice in a short time (about 2 weeks), but, I'll have to admit, not a pre-laying shed. I would hazard a guess and say that, as long as your female seems healthy, not to worry. Look for the eggs fairly soon and let us know how it goes!

Well it looks like there was a little mix up.

I was out of town, and somebody else was looking after my snakes. They called me yesterday saying that the snake had shed. I thought there must be some mistake because she just shed less then a week ago, but she was sure that it was the same snake (I only have 2) and so I took her at her word. Then when I got home today I looked, and sure enough there was a skin in the tank, but it was only about 6 inches long. it was the tail to the first skin that didn't get taken out.

I wanted to try and get an answer quickly so that is why I didn't wait until I got home to verify what she told me.
