Well, my screen just had a "Wild Discovery" logo on. They have snake shows on all night, apparently. Right now it's about vipers. :shrugs:

Cool, I'm watching it right now. I actually hadn't seen this post and was just thinking about posting about it and then I saw your thread!

Austin stevens snake master is a good snake show.

Yeah, I liked that show. Is it still on? After awhile all I ever saw were re-runs of it. I don't have animal planet right now.

Im watching it now... might be an old one though... never used to watch it much so i wouldnt know.

I watched it every week at my old apartment when I had animal planet. After about 7 or 8 episodes they were all old and I gave up. Maybe they started making new ones. :shrugs: If you told me what it was about I could probably remember if it's old.

Cottonmouth

Since it's sort of "on topic", I thought I'd post this. These are pics of a cottonmouth I saw last spring in Florida. He was about 4 feet away in this pic. Pretty cool to be this close. :)

I remember seeing a cotton mouth once sunbathing on rocks on a seminole reserve on a field trip... Florida is so much fun when you go to the 'glades.. But yah, back then all I knew was I liked snakes a lot and there are plenty of dangerous ones. So anyways, we called it a water moccassin and went on our way, it was interresting now that I actually remember it, only time I've seen a venomous snake out in the wild, really.

Austin Stevens' show is on tonight in the UK, He's good, he fed a healer monster and egg and then tickled it it was so funny :p
Does anyone know where he's from though?, he's got the most unique accent...

I was actually watching a show last night about "Dangerour Reptiles" & it was actually pretty neat.

This guy is actually doing a study on how aggressive American venomous snakes are. He does 30 seconds for each test. First he steps next to the snake. Next he gently steps on the snake (like a 1/2 step). Last he picks up the snake with a fake arm & hand.

The cotton mouth didn't even rattle it's tail. It just looked upset. The copperhead struck when picked up.

He has found that most snakes will not strike unless SEVERELY provoked. It's nice that people are actually researching this. There are some really aggressive snakes out there, but they aren't all that way.

It must be because the venomous know they've got the goods if they need them. 'Cause some of my corns sure haven't resisted the urge to strike with hardly any provocation!

I watched all of those shows last night. I taped the one about the rattlesnakes as I was getting too sleepy to stay up. I'll be watching that tonight.

Maybe because they are usually just bigger bodied snakes they don't get so worried? Or maybe your corns are just bullies! lol

Could be...I've actually only had one or two that strikes. One of those would nearly come out of her skin to strike at me! In the beginning she would even strike at the side of her tub, but she finally gave that up after a bit.
